I will keep that in mind, have a road trip to south alabama around that time so well see. As for the Xicoy CG machine, I have given up on it. I did some testing with 5 and 10 pound weights today. The accuracy of the scales is not usable, up to a pound difference between scales even after calibration so I just cant trust it.

Finishing up a few odds and ends today, I have a few pictures of the main gear doors installed. Pretty easy to drill the strusts and tap for 4mm. Only thing you have to watch out for is the strut side has an angle to it. Plus you have to make sure the wheel towing is straight before you drill the holes in the door.
I was wondering if anyone who has flown one of these can tell me how they measured the throws? The manual has mm throws, are you guys just measure from the center of the surface to the center of wing? The reason I ask is with not even what was listed the throws seem a bit much and with a 150mm of flap throw the flap is vertical? CG will be behind the wing tube about 1/4 inch aft per Pablos recommendation.

The arrows are pointing to where your measurements should be taken at for control surface throw measurements.

I have my C/G at the back edge of wing tube and I am totally happy with the plane.

I started with all the throws listed and they were a very good safe start for a maiden flight. I presently have the rudder set at 2-1/8" throw in both directions measure at location shown on above sheet. The elevator throw is set at 1-1/8" up and 1" down throws at present. At present, I can't remember my Ail throw but if I remember right, it is just slightly less then the throws suggested. These throws are of course what suit my style of flying and it gives me a smooth flying plane. Can't remember my flap throws right now, but I will be setting up my plane to do some airframe checks and can check my final setup tomorrow on all surfaces.

Thanks, I just went a head and set everything to the recommended throws, I was mainly worried about the Flaps and ailerons. They seem to be the ones that will get you in trouble the most on the first few seconds
Well the radio is setup which leaves the igyro and a final QC check on everything!

Appreciate your efforts here Keith. Nice build/assembly. My Rebel Pro due February. Normally don't like doors but may do your mod to the front.

Welp its 100% ready to fly, weight with tanks empty and UAT full was 33.5lbs! super light. It would appear my original scales are not working as advertised. Went with stock throws +/-3 mm, the gear doors all function great, so now I just need to work up some motivation and make a road trip to a field to fly it. Minus any updates after the first few flights or problems I'm calling this one a done and moving on. I got a 2.5M FB viper on the table to start for a friend and soon a my own viper so I will be starting a another dual jet build!!!!!

I hope I can get the thing down stairs to the garage LOL

Hi Fender, My Turbine Battery ended up being mounted behind the nose gear opening on the floor, the best C/G is about 1/2" behind the wing tube! I used the factory recommended throws. Hope this helps.

luckily that's not the way to the garage lol
Mike I am about the same spot, only battery change was sliding the turbine battery back about an inch. Pablo suggested the same cg, said it helped inverted flight which required less up elevator.

Very happy with this airframe! Will start on it this weekend.

If anyone was wondering how much the "fuel keg" holds, it's 216oz. or 1.6 Gal!!! Let's see, with my P-200 at 21oz. per minute at full throttle the whole time...10.28 min of full throttle flight!!!

Build is going well. No gear yet so, doing everything else I can. Pretty straight forward build.

Seriously? doesnt seem that big! man it will be nice to have a 10m flight time I havent had that since my kadet senior. Have fun Africa, I go back to work this week so my building will be slow again. I didnt manage to get the F-14 back together and done. Should have done it this way the first time, guess thats what happens when you rush for an event. I am hoping to the viper builds now, will have two to build soon. Going to be a great flying season this year!
