So below are some pictures of the installation of the see-saw mechanism. If it a pretty straight forward installation. The only thing recommended is that the area inside the rear section where the bolts come through and the lock nuts are installed, that you reinforce that area as in the pic I posted previously with the aluminum plate. Also, I used red locktite and used double nuts to make sure that if the are were to become hot, the nuts did not come loose from the nylon in the locknuts letting go from heat exposure. Make sure you DO NOT OVERTIGHTEN the screws that go in through the cross piece of the elevators and hold the elevator to the see-saw. You do not want to compromise the integrity of the middle section by over tightening and damaging it.

Alright, lastly for today, the bell mouth. Like everyone else, I happen to receive the wrong 160 size bell mouth that was a mistake and if you also got the smaller one, please email John and he will send you the right size one which is the 200 size. As for me, I never use the supplied bell mouth as I have had one melt completely with just a little bit of fuel on fire way back. Since then, I go to home depot and get an A/C reducer and trim it to size. Its light and stronger and works for me every time. I installed the bell mouth inside the bypass. The top is removable with the bottom, pipe, and turbine remaining locked in place. The pipe mounted to this bypass with multiple screws is rock solid. Not like using those tiny flimsy metal straps.

I was able to get some more work done on the Hawk this week. Trying to get this baby done for FL Jets! Cockpits are fitted and in. My pilots came from Wilson at Tailored Pilots in the UK, and they are a perfect fit for the Hawk! They look great as everything from Wilson does. I used some G10 to make the cockpit mounting rails and secured them to the sides with some thin basswood. Be careful cutting the tubs as they are not tolerant a lot of vibration during cutting and trimming.
More to come.

Not going to balance the stab. No need. Anton flew this jet without balancing the stab and in the many jets I have built with even larger stabs, I only recall balancing one and it added a massive amount of weight to the rear.

I won't balance mine either, I have built many hawks over the years and have never needed too. Balancing a Hawk stab takes a lot of weight on the forward part of the stab as most of the weight is behind the center of rotation. If you keep your servo linkage tight it will fly great.

Craig ... did you remove the air cylinder for locking the canopy?
If so, how do you plan on actuating the lock?

Hi Jamie, I worked around the air cylinder with the G10 rails I put in. It will still be activated by air and is in the same location. Im out of town at the moment but ill take some pics of the area around the the cylinder when I get back.

I agree the quality is poor and they are to small for the big Hawk. The Tomahawk pilot would be the best bet as far as size, quality and price. I have one in my Skygate Hawk and will do the same to this one when it arrives.
