C model amigo. The best version IMO although I am slightly biased. ;-)

Mine should be here in about 3 weeks I hope. Would love to see some build photos from others. Also would like to see what the plane comes with hardware wise and air system wise so I can start ordering parts. Here is a pic of mine. Fighting Omars

The hardware and air stuff you get when you buy the air package is always showing in the instructions. All three of my SM jets have been ordered with the air kits and I think the only thing I have ended up using are the air tanks. At one time or another I have had to replace every air cylinder they have installed minus the little canopy locking cylinders, which is really a pain since its impossible to order good cylinders in the sizes they use for the doors and they cost so dang much to replace. I have used the supplied airline once and it is very stiff, it can be used but its very brittle. My SM Viper blew a line on the gear at GA jets approx 12 flights. Normally I just buy 200 ft of airline from McMaster-carr for 60 dollars and replace everything. You can use the air gauges and fill ports if you want and I don't recommend using the plastic airline fittings they very brittle. You may luck up and all the air cylinders work just fine just be prepared to pull them out and test them. Nice Scheme by the way, I like aggressor schemes as you know. I am planning to order one of these myself, really looked Jims over it will be cool to see the D model version.

Thanks for the info kieth!

Dantley I'm going to use twin K160s on this one. Going twin is a big point advantage at top gun as long as they stay running and with the new ECU and auto restart even if I have a fluke flame out it should restart.

Mike I will do a full build thread when it gets here and will probably add some other scale details to it. Will fly it just like the full scale with the centerline line tank with the fighting Omar's lettering on the tank.

This is a pic of my SN aircraft.

This is the scheme im going with, I was thinking 160s myself but also considered the Cheetah SE since it has the powerpack design which will allow me to move some weight out of the tail for CG.

Kris,

I've been undecided on whether to go with the engines in the tailcone versus larger engines more forward. Looking forward to hearing your flight reports.

Hi Dantley,

I would go with centre mounted engines to reduce nose weight requirements.

Do you know about difference of flying characteristic between C/D and E/F version?
And for landing which one is more difficult?

Not from personal experience, but it's been stated on this forum that the E/F having bigger wings tends to balloon more during landing/ground effect, which is not desired as they are hot already. Most have stated that C models are easier to land.
Would expect you can push the E/F a lot harder in the air.

Hello, does anyone that has any influence with Skymaster know if SM would be willing to make a tire correction for this model? I would eventually like to get one but the main tires are the incorrect size/ shape. All the pictures I have seen and a bunch of face time with Jims at Ky jets has brought me to ask this. It makes the jets gear look smaller than it is. Just a little fix that would make the model look 10x better and accurate.

Moreover, the 2 tyres I have on my new 1/6 F18C are leaking air. So, they are flat...
Don't know what to do.

I flew my Tamjets F18F for a few years and found a good groove for landing. IT did require a little anticipation to put the nose down and bump the throttle up a little at times but the plane also sticks once down.
I know I will go E/F but I always preferred the Super.

Good Luck

My F-14 tomcat wheels leak so I have to fill them regularly. Very annoy to have that type of issue on 10k jet.

Anton could maybe have them change the main landing gear tires? The current versions are not correct, such a nice model and the landing gear on the f-18 is such a center of attention.
