Hi Keith

I have essentially the same plane. A tip; there is room to install a UAT vertically behind the main fuel tank. There is just enough room
between the tank and the intake tubes. I have one there I use as a header tank for the smoke system.

I installed the forward equipment tray and started the aft, I have to make mounts for the aft portion of the aft tray. Started laying out where everything will mount, I have to check with the owner to make sure everything is a go before hard mounting everything. Once thats done I will run all the airlines to the nose and run the two bus cables back to the mid section and tail section for the servo connections to the PW Box. Pretty simple stuff the only thing not show is a two-way valve that will actuate the speed brakes. It will be mounted in the center of forward tray
.

Kind slow going today, been having to burn up the cell phone talking to some folks so hopefully tomorrow and Sunday will be more productive. Cheers

finishing up the equipment trays today and hard mounting all the bling, I really like the PB bus cables nice and clean. once I finish with the forward tray I will run the airlines and mount the two air fills. This is the slow part of any build for me so hang in there. The kit came with carbon laminated boards for the equipment but the layup is an eye sore so I put down some carbon decal and box does it pop! I also added and small clip to the back of the bulkhead to hold the fuel fill tube as well.

I went ahead and installed the four bolts to hold the nose on for good and you have to be careful depending on how you mount your tanks the bottom bolts are too long so I just swapped them for shorter bolts. Just a heads up. Cheers!

Keith,

The other day when i noteiced your thread I was pretty excited to see you start a build thread.
I've had a FB Viper on the bench for 2-3 months now, taking it slow (I normally rush) but family life forces you sometimes to slow down.
Attached a couple pics, had some minor decal issues but Catherine from FB is fantastic and we got it sorted fairly quickly.

I'm upto equipment tray fit out with all surfaces completed and retracts rebuilt and tested to my satisfaction. I love this part of the build now that all the tedious jobs are over.
Running Savox servos throughout with Futaba horns, Powerbox royal, K210 (Gonna dial her down a tad).

Heres some random pics of my build

Keith (FenderBean) its looking good, The Power Box install really eliminates a lot of the cables and makes for a clean install. My comment is please just take care to have the fuel lines separated for the servo inputs on the Power Box.
Could you please add one more clip to the fill fuel line, could you add it just were the screw cap is on the line for support. Thank you

Hello folks been a bit on this build since I was waiting on the turbine to come in. I wanted to ask people that have built one of these if the cross beam that covers the front of the front cockpit area on the canopy and fuselages is really needed? Its not very and will make the cockpit install a butcher job and just plan old ugly in my opinion. The skymaster viper doesnt have this cross beam, any issues with removing it?

I removed mine and presents no issues. Certainly facilitates installing the cockpit a lot easier.. A word of caution with the cockpit. It will melt and deform if left in the direct sun. Especially if the canopy is left on. I speak from experience.

Hey Keith, When you start or complete the cockpit area, can you please post pictures so I can see what you have done. I am in the same position you are in but finding it tough to figure out how I am going to do this. I have already cut the cockpit into sections to get the right length but just trying to figure out how I am going to permanently install the front black cover into the fuse. the two cockpit seats will be installed into the canopy.

After looking at the manual again and again, The front cross piece on the fuse in the front has been removed. It also looks like they trimmed down the fuse in the rear to get the second seat to fit in. Looks like I am going to have to order a new cockpit haha I cut the one I have up into three pieces to try and get it to fit. Man this was a big learning step for me. I'll be sending FB another 240 for a cockpit

I've been looking at this very issue with my Skymaster 2M Viperjet. My cockpits will be attached ot the inside of the canopy frame and I was planning to glue a piece of tri stock to each fuse side then attaching the long, black hood piece to the tri stock, until I saw this YouTube video

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lsTf...fIib0vC0nrOMsg

I'm not sure which version it is, but this guy has the black hood piece attached to the front cockpit and canopy, now I'm thinking this might be the way to go, if possible.

Well got back to work on this project today, I finished up the cockpit area. I did remove the cross section on the fuse and canopy, the front dash will be hard mounted and the buckets attached to the canopy. I did this on another viper and it worked out great. I mounted a plate to the top of tank with some velcro for the JC Cheetah power pack and all the fuel lines are ran to the turbine area. I will have to make a mount since the cheetah is much smaller than the stock turbine rails. I also have the bus leads and air lines ran to the mid section as well, I will get the wings on tomorrow and cut lines to match. The powerbox bus boxes will be mounts in the turbine area away from the heat and easy to get to. I am trying to make everything easy to access and remove for maintenance. I got some the of the brain cube lights in, the rest are on back order coming from UK.

I also added three spectrum receivers, two in the nose and one back on top in the turtle deck. Cheers!

Its looking good Keith. I see now what you are talking about with the front part of the cockpit. I have a question on that. When you have placed in there, is there a gap at the front?

Working on the turbine bay today, finishing up the airlines and installed the air tanks. I mounted the two PB bus boxes which convert signals from regular servos to a bus type signal. The bottom hatch needs a center support because its flimsy and doesnt fit well. I am gluing two ply pieces in the middle and will add a screw on each side to hold the hat closed. I also installed the two fins which have threads inside the fins, it looks like a blind nut. Tomorrow I have to make two turbine mounts since the cheetah diameter is a bit small for the stock mounts. Once these are in the turbine will go in follow by the pipe which just about finishes up the jet. I have to wait for the rest of the lights for the brain cube before I install the light kit.

A little more done today, got to try out my new ban saw. Its so easy to cut the thick ply now, cant believe I waited so long to buy one. Turbine is in and connected, I have the pipe set just need to drill two holes for the brackets on the end of the turbine rails. I made two 1/4 ply to make the turbine fit, easy to remove the turbine for sure. I also hooked all the airlines in the turbine bay up and tested them all systems are go there. I need to get the servo wire ran to the pb boxes now so I can install the pipe, this will leave final setup, light install and canopy bucket mounting to the canopy.

Tail cone is held on with four 3mm bolts and it supports the pipe.

Well minus the cockpit buckets being mounted and the lights im waiting on from braincube I say number two viper is done! Pipe when in easy and the L brackets are perfect. I ran the tail servo wires to the PB bus box and covered everything with ceramic blanket/aluminum tape for a bit of heat protect, it doesnt really need it due to the distances but better safe than sorry. Nice four day weekend coming up to relax from building now that this thing is done, plus I need to finish off the F-14 and get that thing in the air.
Finished waaay a head of schedule delivery isnt till KY jets I think.

if anyone is wondering 3/4 from turbine to the start of the actual pipe.

Thanks Steve, I will do up a video once everything is in to give you a final look at everything so if we need to move anything to your liking I can do so. After seeing Pauls viper with the lights I think vipers are the perfect jet for lights.
