I've got this new CARF supplied gear coming which looks nice but appears to be delayed. Was hoping to maiden on the 28th at an event but not sure that's going to happen now. Given my wife has a kid due on the 25th, there was a chance the 28th might have been off the cards anyway

I think for $3000 I could buy used full scale su27 landing gear from Ukraine,I think there little over priced the cnc technology is not the expensive today they don’t look like someone spend days to do it or just send me the digital blue print and I will supply you with much better ones made in USA with actually aircraft material .

I think I can live with the CARF version - my car's not big enough for the Skymaster

Or maybe he’s actually asking for pics of the CARF setup, but who knows?

Has anyone got their hands on the “new” wheel package that CARF was planning to release? We’re still using the 5” Dubros, but will be glad to get rid of them. I was close to ordering Roberts but Andreas mentioned a while back that there would be a new strong yet light option available through CARF. The only wheel and brake kit listed on the site is the same Dubro set.

The new set up will be all electric.
Other than Electron CARF have struggled with all their landing gear partners. I think there is a known direction now, so hopefully 2019 will put this behind them.

I knew they had all new gear in the works also, really just curious if they have their new set of wheels/tires/brakes available that will tolerate the weight without being too heavy themselves.

I am down to programming and figuring out a cockpit. I have the instrument panels and ejection seats being made. I need the instrument hoods and a way to make a tub. I have 3D printed a bunch of stuff. If anyone is willing to let me borrow their cockpit kit, I will print you everything I have and send it back with your cockpit. I just need to get dimensions for the instrument hoods. I have a 3D scanner and will copy it, then 3D print a plug to vacuform. I can't stomach paying $600 for the stuff that CARF is selling. That pile of vacuformed stuff should have came with the kit.

Any takers???

Can someone give me the throws for the slats? My manual does not have any mention of them...

For those who are flying it, are they important? Just look cool? I know some people had issues with them jamming.

We’ve never actually flown without the slats, they’ve been on the same channel with flaps since day one. I want to say I set the throw at 1/4” and 1/2” measured at the inboard end against the fuselage, will try to check it for you next time he brings it out.

I think the failures that that have occurred have likely been due to a clevis coming off, as it’s damn near impossible to get a keeper sleeve on them. In hindsight I would have swapped out the hardware with 4-40 just so I could use Sullivan clevises with keeper clips. Using the supplied 3mm clevises I tried to slip a piece of tygon over them and had the tygon slip off on the inboard pushrod and the clevis popped out of the horn. Only noticed because the gap was slightly uneven when getting ready to fly, so I ended up getting some safety wire around the inner clevises on each wing as the keeper instead of tygon. I may very well take them out entirely to replace with 4-40 next time it’s down for some maintenance.

Hi,
The seat I have today from CARF has 17,2 cm height and 9 cm width

Btw I saw the different cokpits in 3D printing in this forum and I tried to find something more fun than CARF one (not difficult!)
I found a guy who's making 3D parts in France, he has the SU 27 model.. I ordered front panels, side panels, seats and cover cokpits (lead time is about 2 months.)
He sent me some pictures of his 3D CAD files

I will send you pictures when I receive them.

Patrick the 17.2 cm dimension you posted, is that the total height of the seat from lower base of seat to top of headrest or is that seat height from top of pilot seat to top of head rest?

Thanks

It's the total height from bottom to top

@Pat67 I hope those parts are printed with SLA instead of FDM! Otherwise the details will be lost in a lower resolution print. The CAD looks great it would be a shame not to see that in the final print!

My friend has been busily cracking along with his cockpit design. The timing should work nicely 😄
