Hi Wilson,
I can wait to see what the retracts look like as it will be next winter before I build JayLow 2 (working title, to be changed).
I have drawn all the wing ribs for a built up wing (doubled the sweep, reduced thickness by 2% and slightly more taper). All that needs done now is to draw in the retracts and mounts, hence the size question.
I have also drawn the tailplane rib set (again slight reduction in tip chord and span)
Regards,
Alasdair

Our Ventrix build is underway, the first job is to mount the GRP horns into the control surfaces. These are made up of double horns and a clear spreader plate that sits against the film, this feature also stops any film lift once assembled.

Next step is to glue the pin hinges in place, making sure to apply a little Vaseline to the pivot point.

Now the hinges are done we have moved on to servoinstallation, starting with ailerons and flaps. The pushrods all come withturnbuckles for ease of adjustment without having to remove ball joints.
The kit also comes with optional glassfibre horns for the servos.

Even though the model can be built with a removabletailplane and fin we have chosen to glue ours permanently as transportationisn't a problem. We have also installed all the back end servos and fittings atthe same time.

It's all well and good posting the occasional build photo but you need to get these out into real people's hands. It was over a year since this thread was started and still it doesn't appear that they are being delivered. The Pantera didn't exactly take the modelling world by storm and I fear this may go the same way.

Electric gear/ fuel tank?

This is like trying to get blood out of a stone. No announcement that it has arrived and I can't find anywhere online that has it in stock.

Is Dreamworks still involved? It isn't on their website (although I think it once was).

Have to agree this has been strung out far too long. I would think the retracts and tank will be optional extras. I like the look of the Warrior but can't find any information on that, but lets not go there !!!

Sorry for the late reply, we only have chance to answer messages and post on forums 2-3 days a week. Dreamworks now have their shipment along with the other international distributors, ours has arrived this week after a delay due to increasing our initial order. We are now working on our website to include the new models that have arrived, we should have at least the homepage up and running soon to show the latest designs available.

I believe Dreamworks are displaying theirs at Florida Jets this weekend, any US customers can speak to Todd or his team directly.

The Ventrix retracts and brakes set are available separately, this includes electric units with metal wheels, oleos and fittings together with electric brakes to match. These are not included with the kit as many people already have retracts they can use or have their own preference. This set is £549.95

Similarly we do have an optional fuel tank but do not bundle it with the kit. We are still deciding what to include with this tank so will have more info soon.

We have purposely avoided any announcements for the Ventrix until they were in stock, this build thread was aimed to help our other distributors worldwide while they were waiting for stock, and to help answer any customer queries.

As I said before, due our current workload with our pilot range we can't always reply immediately, if you need a faster response please message me through our Facebook page: facebook/tailoredpilots

We will start a new thread for the Warrior once a build is underway. If you need any more info please contact me.

Ventrix Specifications

I saw it flying at Florida Jets today, looks good. If they take it up tomorrow I'll be sure and grab some flight pics.

I must admit it does look pretty good and would be ideal for my P-100 but I don't think I can justify £850 for a wooden airframe. That's almost £200 more than the Xcalibur

With the gear at £550 the 'package' of £1400 (without a fuel tank) is quite a bit higher than I was expecting, which is a shame.

Vertical is meant to be glued permanently. Structurally I believe it would be fine if made removable but I'm not sure it has been done yet.

Its a more slick Turbinator. Turbinators required nose weight to CG. I have the V2 with a KT100 and need 1.5lbs of lead in nose. AUW with fuel 125oz is 26lbs.
