Airworld Me262 Build (1/4 Scale)

I'm not sure... The radius of the intake lip looks slightly fatter than scale. The flaps are not scale, these rotate around a single hinge point rather than using a slotted actuation system like the original had. In terms of what the kit is trying to achieve I think its great model and it had none of the issues that I had with the composite work on my F104.
Overall its a great looking 262 and a model I would love to own but for a serious scale competition you will have to make modifications.

Looks like the shape of the nose is wrong as well as the top of the cockpit.

I've worked a lot on the Grumania 262 and got very aware of the shapes of this plane. It is all in subtle curves and not easy to replicate perfectly.
The grumania 262 also got the nose off, but not as bad as the Airworld.

Hi Oli,
I think in the flesh its better than my photos show, I didn't apply any lens corrections to my images and those old photos can be misleading due to the same effect. I might be wrong but I believe this model is based on the airworthy replica.

As you say its very difficult to get a scale model accurate which is why for our next project we are going to scan the real aircraft and use this data to CNC a pattern, the only difference will be the inevitable changes to the wing sections to something more suitable for a model
Cheers

I've been very lax in updating this thread but I'm pleased to say the model is finished. I met the client last week who was happy to take delivery in November after a few little niggles are sorted out.
I've added some extra detail to the cockpit as it was little sparse for such a big area. The gunsight was modelled and printed using SLA.

Alf, I no longer remember the exact CG location. Best advice is to use the CG calculator here:
CG calc
Ive used it many times and its always accurate as long as you input correct measurements.
Mine is now flying on two Kingtech 120s. I get about 9 min flights with two extra 32 oz tanks added before the header tanks.
Regards,
Evan Q.
