The "Dolphin/Hawk" design, tho not very well received at first, seems to be taking the RC world by storm. I own 2 such jets ..

Hi Guys, i'm considering this model as my first jet. The one thing i don't like so much are the air retracts. I often read that ARF air components are not reliable and needs to be replaced with Robart and Festo stuff for example. I only have experiance with electric retracts so the pneumatics worry me a bit. Has anyone looked into converting to electric retracts? Are the retract mounts all drilled and prepared for the included air gear or would it be easy to fit Electrons or Behotec retracts with the supplied struts? Thanks for the help as this issue is my main concern.
Regards, Arjan.

i understand Electron already made a set to fit the fortune.
retract mounts come pre drilled, but still would be easy to convert.

Maybe this question was asked already, if so my apologies.

Can this be ordered plain White with no retracts.

If so what is the cost?

I have Electrons in my Fortune. The mounts were not pre drilled.

Thanks for the info Jason,

I'll ask if it's possible to order a Fortune without the mounts pre drilled and without the air retracts. Did you use the full Electron set (retracts, legs and brakes)? and was it an easy install? Thanks!

Regards,
Arjan

Yes the the complete set was fitted. You need to make two simple 4km plates to lower the nose to stop it touching the front structure and you meet to cut out the wheel pocket to clear the wheels. This is not a problem as the wheels sit in these cutouts when retracted. As the electrons obviously have no air nipples to get in the way the units themselves are actually easier to fit then the air ones.

Is there an online build manual anywhere?

I'd be happy to do a video build log when I can get one, but have to sell the Boomerang first.......

Unless I can get a good deal for doing the video build log of course.
