Default New Sport Jet: T-One Models Fortune - She flies !!

** For Flight pics & videos see posts 67-70 **

Hello Guys,

I am happy to announce a new sport jet from a new company - T-One Models.
the jet is called: Fortune.
Specifications:
Wingspan: 1.92m
Length: 2.20m
Net Weight: 10.5Kg
Power: 10-14Kg turbine

disclaimer: im not affiliated with T-One Models, just a happy customer.
i have been in touch with the owner of the company and followed the development, and i knew i would get one as soon it is available, as i felt this jet is completely different than today's chinese sport jets in design, craftsmanship and quality.

therefore, i decided to purchase Fortune serial number 002 and it arrived in my hands yesterday.
it is obvious that being an early model, there would be points requiring improvement, and i will certainly point these out as i find them.
Those who know me, know i fly hard here is an example with UF:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nTVLCJ0hdDM
i have decided to make a build thread and document the build in order to build an information data base about this new, intriguing model.
some interesting features i found are:
- foam / composite laminate skins
- carbon fiber reinforcements
- 2 piece fuselage
- removeable tail fins. bolts have metal inserts to guide your allen wrench - cool feature!
- all removeable surfaces held with double aluminum clamps
- Kevlar fuel tank
- landing gear steering servo mounted on front strut (for me - the only way to do it!)
- extremely lightweight
- large control surfaces - pre hinged and hinges already installed and glued!
- optional gear doors
- strudy aluminum wing spar
- many available paint schemes, with custom schemes available
- extensive hardware included in kit
- removeable nose cone
- removeable wood / carbon fiber nose structure !
- trailing link landing gears (3)

for now, i will leave some pictures i took yesterday as i opened the box, i do apologize for the quality as my phone camera isnt the best.
Im sure some would be interested, so the factory's Email is: jy3076@sina.com

i will update as i make progress.
Thanks for looking.

Great to see a design with decent tail area after a run of models missing this crucial requirement, especially with these popular lifting fuselage shapes.

That style of jet is not at the top of my list, but this one is the best looking one out there - by far!

So we have evolved from endless copies in all sizes of the Bandit to
endless copies in all sizes of the Futura?

At least the Bandit is an attractive jet.

Having said that at least the Futura design is morphing into something
less whale like (I call them Shamu's) and more jet like!

John.

Sure looks prety....

So How many jets have they built and flown? How many flights logged on each test aircraft?
What is T-One's experience in: Aircraft design, R/C aircraft manufacturing, Composites, and Quality Control?

The tail pipe has a lot of wrinkles in it.

After my problems with a simple servo mounting bracket from a china arf jet company, I have no faith in the land of cheap. These bracket had two tapped holes, M3, and two clearance holes. The tapped holes should have been 10 mm apart, They checked 8.5 to 9.5 mm. None of the holes were square to the surface or even parallel to each other. None of the holes were centered on the bracket either. Looks like somebody drilled and tapped the holes by hand. I installed one screw and the other would bind on the ear of the servo's case or the heads would not sit flat. Net Result I had to make new ones at work.

This is certainly a good looking model in my book, a lot more appealing than the Futura's and Avanti's of this world. I really don't like the way theline of the nose continues into the cockpit on most of these... a Jet deserves a bit of a "nose" in my book...
the construction sure does look good from the pictures.....of course, will they be able to keep this kind of workmanship as production tries to keep up with demand....
Given the price on this jet, and if the quality is good, this could be one hard jet to beat in the quality for bucks corner.....Of course, it will have to prove it flies as great as it looks as well, but I must say I'm véry tempted to bite the bullet on one........And I already have a great paint scheme in mind.......

Kim, what is the normal lead time on one? standard paint and customer request paint scheme?

I don't like the whale, sorry, the futura, BUT this one has a very nice front and cockpit.
Very interested in this one. Have my paint scheme already.

I hope you are using proper plywood. Also the mounting of the elevators could use some carbon fiber? Is the fin stiff enough?

This tailplanes are too small old chestnut is getting boring now. You say this about the Wizard too which I believe is on the whole the best flying model aeroplane let alone jet I have ever, ever flown. Also J.P Zardini is I believe, one of the best qualified people in the world to decide what size tail planes to stick on a model. So as far as I'm concerned the way the Wizard flies coupled with the designers pedigree means that the tail plane is the correct size.

Anyway back to the thread subject. Other than the oversized tailplane this Fortune jet seems really nice. I have ordered one and it should be here in May. Looking forward to seeing what the quality is like.

Jason

At least the Bandit is an attractive jet.

Having said that at least the Futura design is morphing into something
less whale like (I call them Shamu's) and more jet like!

John.
Could be worse John, out of the 2 photos below I know which one I prefer to own

I can't argue with that one.

I just didn't plan on my first jet surviving long enough to embarrass me.

Much prefer flying one of these, did someone mention small tailplanes?

John.
