Trying to decide on engine for flying in Denver... Also, what do I need to do to the plane other than check the fuel lines and clunks? Seems like everything else is pretty good out of the box?

Make sure you check EVERYTHING. The engineering is very well done on these "PNP" jets, but BVM doesn't even use the term Plug & Play anymore because many are shipped with improperly installed parts. One of my flying buds has this F-18, taking delivery at FLJets a few months back. He wanted to get it flying at the event, but found lots of items not installed correctly. One example: a servo was in place, but the screws had only been started. The servo flopped around in the mount. My Go Fly F-16 should be here soon, and it will get a complete D check before i sign it off!

Mines arrived!

First impressions are that Im, well, very impressed!
( Thanks Jeff )

No damage in shipping ( except for one gear door mount on the door was detached) and I'm pleased with what Ive seen of the install so far.
I do intend to remove things and check for certain however.

I haven't seen a manual or control throws listed in the box yet, so for those of you flying yours, ac couple of questions...

Wheres the recommended CG? And control throws?
Where did you position your batteries and what weight were they? Im trying to decide if i should put the batts in the tray forward of the nose gear, but not in the nose cone.

There isn't a lot of room for equipment so I'm trying to decide if i really need a powerbox or not. I see above the mercury fits, but Ive a Royal and it looks too big to fit comfortably.

Secondly, do the servo wires disconnect at the fuse join? or are they one wire all the way to the front?

After months of delays due to turbine issues, I finally maiden the F18 this past weekend. She's a great flying bird! The maiden was completed with the gyro off to trim her out. The second flight was done with the gyro on (not video taped) and she flew even nicer! I can't wait to get more time on her! Enjoy!

CG is 4.5" back from the forward 90 degree corner on the wing root (on the fuselage - you should be slightly in front of the front wing post)
My throws are Top of Rud = 7/8", Leading edge of elevator = 1-1/2", Ail at flap junction = 1", Takeoff Flap = 7/8", Landing flap = 2-1/2" (both at Ail / Flap junction)

On your second question, for my setup, I have 1 Lipo in the nose cone, the other two are on the forward battery plate (3x Glacier 2s 5000 mah lips)

the entire loom goes into the front half (in other words, they don't disconnect).

That’s brillliant Marcus.
Congrats on a successful maiden, and thanks for all the info. Much appreciated.
Were the turbine issues airframe related? Reason I ask is my Merlin 200 arrives this week.

i assume the gear all operated properly? The 2mm airline doesn’t fill me with confidence, but if it works, then so be it.

My Merlin was having hot starts from the first run. After working with Jets Munt and replacing the pump, all is well. The frame had no issues. Also, I feel you on the 2mm line but all is fine and BVM has a ton of PNP flying with those lines.

I’ve just started on mine.

is it just a top and bottom bolt keeping the front and rear ha,f of the fuse together?

ive removed two bolts but it feels like the fuselage is still attached together...
i cant see any attachment points in the leading edge extensions but it feels like it’s attached there....
