Update- The BVM F-18 that won the Military Sport Scale category did not win Best of Show but did garner the People's Choice award. Best of Show was taken by a large (1/4 scale) F-86 entered in the Jet category. A Ms.. Jordan (?) built and finished the Sabre with about a zillion rivets on a metal coat finish. A Mr. Greg (?) entered the Hornet and all scale entries were judged to AMA Rules for craftsmanship/color/finish/markings and scale outline. The Hornet's static score was 96.5 out of a possible 100 points. Sorry I did not get the last names of these winners but they should be posted on the: toledoshow.com website in the near future. Again, congrats to all the winners and entries at this Expo.

Update II:
The BVM F/A-18 Hornet that won the Military Sport Scale category at Toledo RC Expo was entered by Greg Alderman from Muncie, IL. Greg's Hornet also won the People's Choice award. Best of Show was awarded to Jordan Peterson with her outstanding Tomahawk F-86 Sabre. Jordan hails from Westmorland, MI and her Sabre was entered in the Designer Scale category of the show. Several other jets were entered in the Jet Plane category but without scale documentation, and were judged separately. See: www:toledoshow.com for photos and info on all the winners..

I was about to maiden mine last weekend until I found the tanks split when I fuelled her up!
The tank is now repaired, but just wondered what anyone has done about the soft springs on the mains??
i had tried to add another shorter spring inside one that’s currently there, but now the plane won’t settle level.

Can anyone tell me if there 1:7 PNP F18 came with linkage covers for ailerons and flaps? I have had mine since March of 2018 and it only came with 2 piece clamshell type for flaps. I know in the past they were being shipped with 2 piece clamshell for flaps and a 1 piece cover for ailerons. Just trying to find out what they are shipping with these days as I am trying to work with BVM to get a set of aileron linkage covers!
Thanks
Rob
Thanks

If you look at the full scale Jet, there are only large Aileron linkage covers. Not flap.

Many thanks in advance and best regards. Etienne.

Try to get as much as you can forward (forward being the tray under the cockpit etc and the tray in the nose). Including all batteries, RX, Pump etc. Mine is exactly like yours but #5. These will need weight up front. Mine has two ECU batteries, and two 4000 Mah, RX batteries. All go in the tray in the front. I didn't have to add ANY weight to balance. With my setup it was balanced perfectly.

For those installing the really big block motors in the 1/5.5 scale BVM F-18, I can offer a re-designed fuselage bulkhead bridge piece. Designed to accommodate an AMT Titan with the large igniter which sits directly in-line with the bulkhead. The original BVM bridge piece sits too low and doesn't allow correct positioning for the Titan. I made this for Buck's Big, Bad Wolf, Texas Reserves F-18, and I'm happy to make additional ones if interested.
Also, I can custom engrave them with what-ever you want - some examples below. I have the original BVM shape too, so I can offer engraved standard bridge pieces also.
Made of MIL Spec 5-ply all birch plywood, that just needs gluing and bolting together. $40 shipped.
