Hello to all,
I hate to say anything bad so I usually don't say anything at all.
I have been working on this 71" jet all winter and I can say with confidence that there are headaches with this model. I have experienced a list of concern items on this model. Finished, it will be a little under powered with 60N turbine as the take off weight will be 20-21 pounds plus.

I assembled and flew the big brother of the 71” Dolphin and I would agree that there were some definite short-comings as this was Pilot’s first attempt at a Jet. I’ve since moved on to much better designed and much better performing aircraft. I’m kind of surprised that Pilot still manages to sell these jets.

I built and fly the 71" version and I'm not sure where the shortcomings are? It went together pretty easy and straight forward, in fact I really didn't have to use my dremal to grind much at all. The landing gear that comes with it dropped in easy and works great. I replaced the stock tank with a Jet tech Kevlar tank 90oz. I put a Jet Central Rabbit VT90 with 19lb thrust and get 9-10 min flights with plenty reserve. Mine came out around 18.5 lbs without fuel.
The jet is no speed demon as it GPS only 137mph at full power level flight. But it is a very easy flyer that basically flies like a low wing sport plane. It has a lot of lift and can get really slow. Landings are hands off easy. It's not fast nor has unlimited vertical but flies around great and in my opinion would make a great beginner jet. And it much cheaper than a composite jet. Though don't get me wrong, I enjoy a composite jet more, love my Ultra Flash. But the Pilot Dolphin would make a great choice beginner jet for the average guy not wanting to spend too much and not fly too fast.
