Hi guys,
The Turbofoam version we carry at Global is a bit different than some of he other Turbine versions out there. We are running aluminum control horns on everything and all the components are to our specs to insure reliability. I flew out first version if the Viper and it flew awesome with be A-60! Let us know if you have any questions, we have a container of vipers on the water and will have them at Kentucky!

Ace is global jet clubs new brand of turbine, we have done extensive testing with the 60 and the new 120 which will be out soon. We are the first to offer in air restart if you have a flame out! If your turbine needs service that takes longer than 1 week, we send you a loaner turbine to keep you flying! Please understand the Ace turbine only comes in the airframes sold by Global, any other HSD jets that have a turbine are a different brand and have not had our R&D..

I guess I'll have to see this auto start feature before I put too much stock into what it can do. I mean it would be good for a powered glider - launch, gain altitude, fly an aerobatic routine, climb up again, fly around, shut down, then later re start, etc. But for an unexpected flameout on a high wing loading fighter, the compressor in any micro turbine has so little inertia it's going to wind down well below idle speed awful fast before a sustainable re start can be had - I think the starter is going to have to assist nearly all re-starts and that means at least 30 seconds I'd think before thrust can be advanced again, the dirt comes up faster than that below 400 feet. I like the idea a lot and I hope the practicality in a fighter type engine failure scenario is better than I can visualize right now (it would be awesome if they could have a re light and run within a few seconds)

Its pretty amazing! In testing I flew the prototype Viper and had a flameout right after a low inverted pass! The auto restart had me back up to speed so quick it allowed me to line it back up and land!! With out it I would not have made it back! I was a bit skeptical about it as well but after that I was sold! Are you coming out to BITW again this year? We need to get our A4's in the air together!!

Hey Brian that's pretty cool. I was thinking it would detect and ignite immediately with RPM below idle like the real ones but I was thinking the solenoid cycling and kero start process would have taken longer along with rapid low inertia rotor spool down. However, your experience shows the usable function! Pretty cool. How did you know you had lost power - did it smoke and spool down and then re accelerate again? What turned out to be the failure mode in the first place? Are all the goodies under the cowl like some of the more recent engines or are the solenoids and such external? Great information.
Brian I am not sure if I'll be making it this year but if I do I will touch base with you. I'd prefer to have a new jet if I do come out even though I'd still bring the A-4. That would be cool to finally fly together, we were always 1/2 phase off timing last year. Was thinking of picking up a larger scale jet or something of a Cadillac as a change of pace - but at this point not sure as the season is already well under way!

I was up in the air by myself so I heard it, it ended up being a pre production bad pump that I got by accident. The Ace has the same setup as the others (internal solenoids etc.) it really didn't spool down much and fires back up pretty fast so very useful, if you pinch the fuel line to simulate an air bubble we timed it at 3 secs so it's quick!
I should have my new 1/5 F-16 with me this year but always have room for the A4
