Where do you live? Its always good to talk to locals and see what they are doing. As for the K140 I would advise to either pick a K160 or a K120 simply because they make more power for their weight. The K140 is one of the most reliable engines kingtech has made but the K160 is smaller lighter with more power and can be used in more aircraft. Also its probably better to find an airframe before you decide on the aircraft.

What type of aircraft did you have in mind? Sport jet or scale jet

Well Texas is a big place with lots of jet pilots. Might help if you said what part of Texas you live or where you plan on flying.

I live in Texas too, Born and raised,,,you say far West Texas, that could be anything from Dalhart to El Paso to Laredo which is over a thousand miles, he was simply trying to help you get an area where you could maybe get some local advice and help considering you don't know which direction you want to go. Nobody wants to know exactly where you live. I say you should just get the biggest f4 you can afford. Be a great trainer jet it'll work out perfect for you.

Laredo, On the western side of Texas, On the western state line, southern end of state yes, but western state line. To go from Corpus to Laredo, You go WEST,, Not south.
My sarcastic point being when someone tries to give you help and point you to a local area, You make the statement your location does not need to be public info, when the intention is to get you to an experienced group of people who can help you get in the direction you want, and help you safely get your waiver, YOU DO know you just cant go buy a jet and fly it right? You need local help, You even stated You don't know about turbine pilots in your area. You are on the most experienced source of turbine help and support there is Period,, You could say Lubbock area, or midland area, ETC.
For Example, I live in Waco, but know turbine Pilots from Dallas to Houston that can and will help someone in need, just as I would help you, if you were here..

And You Mentioned the F4,, I support your decision either way,,,

ExtremeArf, elite aerosport, Skymaster, jetlegend, feibaos jets, carf models and bvm all of these have websites and when it comes to jet products you cannot beat dreamworks rc and bvm.

AMA is not required but FAA registration is.

And it's not that hard to find you, the government is monitoring you from satellites right now.

You should buy a BVM F-4. One of the easiest jets to fly.

The next easiest jet is a Jet Model Products Firebird.

Both made in the USA and you will have lots of really good luck with those.

The best F-16 on the market is made by Fly Eagle Jets. You should TOTALLY buy from them and any scale they make have great track records.

Based on your posts, it's easy to see you will have no problem with jets! Please let us know how you do!

FAA requires you to register with them if you fly any RC model from 1/2 pound to 55 pounds. So that pretty much covers all RC models. That requirement is regardless of where you fly, even on private property.

Best advice on the net today Raff.. !!

And 310 is quite correct. I would never buy from a company who's website does not publish prices..

Just as stated above, I purchased my turbine first and then ended up sending it back unused due to the airframe I went with. Get the Jet then decide on the power you want to put in it. I have a Kingtech 140 and love it but as soon as the 160 came out almost right after me getting the 140 I wish I had the 160. The 160 is smaller in size to the 140 and puts out more power.
