I asked earlier in another post, will an original Jetcat P120 be ok for the current pipe or "should" I order a pipe from Tam?

I3dm is flying his Fortune/T-One that was serial 1. First kit delivered with original pipe and originally had a p120 and now a ATJ 140 and has had 0 issues. My two will be powered by a P140 RXI and Jet Central 140. Original pipe as well

Dirk how do I know the difference in the pipe to tell if I have the upgraded version or not? Can you post pics of both pipes so we can see the difference?

Just got my plane a week ago so don't know if that came with new pipe or not since I don't know the difference. I did see all the extra mods. Makes me think I do have the newer pipe but have to see both together to tell difference

Would be nice also, I know it's part of the mold but I'm gonna be cutting down the resting area for the retract cover and adding poly ply with some thin plywood to hold the screws on as since the hatch is pre drilled they line up to nothing to screw down to. Nothing major. All easily fixed items. Still love the plane. Just pointing out some stuff as I see along the way

Guys on the pipes. We are hearing everything after plane #8 has the newer pipe that is good.

Pipes prior to that are suspect. I am pretty busy right with my son who is sick. When I get time I will try and get a thickness on the new pipe.

The difference is night and day. Old pipe is very flimsy new pipe inner and outer wall is double the thickness and more then strong enough.

HI guys, been making pipes for years, do not be concerned about the 3 thou outer pipe, that is just to keep it light, it will always wrinkle, just cosmetic, 4 thou will not wrinkle.
The inner pipe is a different story, a good pipe has 8 thou stainless steel, I use 321 ss, the T-1 has 6 thou, it should be OK with a Kingtec 120 or similar, just keep an eye on the pipe.
The pipe is actually not the best design, when the thickness of both pipes are not the same, they expand at different rates, so usually one end is not spot welded to both pipes, so to allow the different rate expansion.
This pipe is spot welded to both pipes at each end, but their will be movement in the spacer, so not to worry.

Hi all, been reading all the thread and like the T-1 / Fortune very much. Just a quik question. Is this a good jet for beginers? (no experience with jets, been flying for more tan 20 years)

Thanks.

So where is the production number? I just took a quick look and I don't see a number on my jet but I could have easily missed it.

The dimensions of the stock pipe (mine) is 29-1/2" from back to the beginning of the bell, 31-1/2" overall. The OD is 4" the bell is 5-1/2" not that a Tam will have that.

Tam is making mine spicificly for a K120 so it will be smaller in diameter, I think he said 3-3/8" One good thing about getting a Tam is you can get it spicificly for your turbine, not a generic size.

I was notified that my jet has the older pipe, Dirk can tell you if you are in the first 8, most will have the newer pipe as they have sold a lot since the first 12

I dont believe their is a number on the plane. If your pipe has very thin metal on it and the outer wall is super flimsy then its the old pipe that needs replacement. I cant get to mine at the moment got allot going on so I can tell you the thickness off hand.

I was afraid of that, my pipe is like paper on the outer wall. I didn't like the looks of it the second I opened the box. I will not roll the dice with this pipe, no thank you.

At 240mm the T-1 is more for advanced pilots, can get a little tip stalling if you get it to slow.

220-230mm is more for the everyday flyer with no bad tendencies.

Send me pictures!!!

Did you guys settle on some flap settings?

Thanks,

Just finished fine tuning the pipe Tam is building for this jet. It will be 29-1/2" long he does not put a bell like the stock pipe has. It will be 3-3/4" at the front, and 3-1/4" at the tail so it's a tapered pipe.
On this type the turbine nozzle cone sits about 1/2" to 3/4" back and is not inclosed by the bell. Heat should not be an issue but heat blanket can be used if one feels it is. This is good for up to a K160.

should have the pipe next week.

The bell mouth that allot of the Chinese manufactures provide like FBjets and others like the one in the T1 all has the wrong radius for a proper bell mouth. The curve should be the opposite of how its done. Tam will put a proper bell mouth on your pipe Tony. It will be small but the right shape.

Patrick,

Your JC 120 will be a great fit for the T-1 and you can use the stock pipe. Barry has been flying his Demo T-1 with the original pipe and a K120 and has had no problems. I really think the failed pipe is an isolated issue as others have been using the Version 1 pipe with great success.

Regards,

Dirk

Johnny,

The V2 pipe is in our orders #9 to current. The 1st 8 owners were called and notified of what happened, if you were not called, you have the V2 pipe. The factory is now working on a Version 3 or V3 pipe after the report of Digital Pilots pipe malfunction. Mr. Kim and our team is striving to produce and deliver the best kits on the market and he is very proactive when situations arise. Keep in mind it was a V1 pipe that failed and Mr. Kim is going to improve the V2 pipe just to ensure there are no more issue's. To me, the bottom line is , pound for pound & dollar for dollar, nothing comes close to the T-1!!

Good Flying,

Dirk

Ricardo,

The T-1 is an excellent plane and has no bad tendencies. gunradd's 14 year old son got got off the buddy box and got his turbine waiver after a day of flying the T-1, so I am sure you will be just fine with it as well. The nice thing is, this plane will perform to the highest level of flying you can put it through as well.
