Default 3mm Festo's with 1/16" standard airline ???

Any of you guy's have any experience using 3mm festo's with the heavy duty 1/8 airline that Dreamworks and others sell ?? Todd sells 3mm line, but not in a large choice of colors. Looking at the spec's, the 3mm line is 3mm O.D. and the I.d. is .070in.. The 1/8 line I want to use actually has a larger O.D. ( 3.175mm ) but the I/D. is .066in. I.D is not of concern for me. It seems to me that the 1/8 line will work in the 3mm festo's, just a little tighter. I have tried it and cannot tell the difference in the feel plugging the line in and out... All my valves, retracts, T's, and components have standard size nipples on them. Just wondering if you guy's have done this and any results or thoughts on this... I need to replace the entire air system in ( you might have guessed ) my Skymaster/Extreme 2M ViperJet... You know, the kit that comes with all the gear, doors, and airline all done for you...

Thanks for the help,

Danno

P.S. And yes, I was told that that airline was junk when I built the kit.... But is did work for 2 years... LOL

D

Hey Danno, I used the HD air hoses in my 16, tight fit on normal 3mm fittings, good secure connection, you ain't gonna pull it off, it's gotta be cut off!! Good stuff, I'm putting it in my new one when it gets here. It's all I use now because it seems to be really good stuff.

We do offer several quick fittings correctly sized for our HD airline, see here: http://www.dreamworksrc.com/catalog/...1%2F8%22+festo
Always use 1/8" quick fittings with our airline; 3mm barbed fittings are compatible but the 3mm quick fittings will leak. The advantage of our HD airline over the metric Festo tubing; thicker wall provides substantially more abrasion and heat resistance, the high durometer creates a superior leak free seal on barbed fittings.

Todd,

Thanks for the reply.. My dilemma is that I want to use panel mount festo's on fuse wing root to plug my retracts/brakes in and out.. We have done this with 4mm line on the Rebel Pro's and works great. Do you have a 1/8 airline panel mount festo I can use.. I see the SMC 1/8 couplers but no panel mount type.. I do see the 1/8 type quick connect type that hard mount on the root and the wing as an assmy., and you just slide the wing on and it's done... I don't care for those on this application
because of the room needed in one spot. What's do you think ?? Are there panel mount 1/8 SMC couplers available. That would be the answer if you say the 3mm couplers will leak with the 1/8 HD line.. Which seems weird to me because the O.D. on the 1/8 line is slightly bigger than the 3mm line.. ( 3.175mm ) .

Hook me up brotha !! lol

Cheers.
Dan

No problem, but candidly I would probably use the ones Todd indicated,

http://www.dreamworksrc.com/catalog/...ine-Disconnect

But to each his own, look at the recent kerfuffle over a simple UAT

Also, not all the disty's for this stuff are as easy to work with as Dreamworks. Allied is not my favorite.

Dan,
Not sure what the threading is but they are approx. .37 in diameter so 3/8" hole, about 1" long end to end.
