Default Using the SOLOSHOT robotic video camera to video RC aircraft

Has anyone experimented with using the SOLOSHOT robotic camera for videoing RC aircraft? I'm curious how well it works, if at all, before getting one. Also of concern is that the tracking transmitter that goes in the aircraft transmits on 2.4. Theoretically, this should not cause a problem, but you never know.

Thanks!

I witnessed one at our field and it did pretty darn well I was surprised. It took him a little time to set up but it worked well once done

I've seen it work OK on the 3d gassers, but not jets. There are some videos of it on jets on you tube, and you can clearly see in flight it struggles to keep the aircraft in frame. But that may be what Kevin is talking about, operator may not have it set up just right.

Tracks ok left horizontally, great for skate boarding.

Vertically, not so much, though they have been working to improve it, from what I've seen I'm not impressed (yet)

We have a member who used one of the earlier generations to video his jets, it worked quite well; better than 90% of people. I'm waiting on my version 3 and am looking forward to it.

The guy had to measure distances from camera to a point on field and then a second point. It took him a while to get correct but did track well after all this was accomplished. I did not ask him all that was required but not a plug in and go situation

The new version 3 soloshot is supposed to be much better. It is supposed to hook up to the receiver much faster, and the horizontal and vertical tracking is supposed to be very quick. I work for a school with a film department and they are very interested in it because of the improvements. Have not seen it in person yet, but it does look promising.

I ordered one of the new ones back in January, and am hoping to see it in October per their last email. I will post some footage as soon as I can get some.

Thanks for the info everybody. Looks like the V2 has a little trouble keeping up with faster aircraft. Maybe the new version will be better.

Yeah, me too. I'm in the first batch apparently. Delays and delays making it come after the flying season but at 50% discount it's fine anyway i guess.

My Soloshot3 was a disappointment (Did not work as advertised) so I returned it within 10 days of receiving it.
The bad part is, the Co. received the unit back almost 2 Months ago and still NO REFUND. I had to get the Credit Card involved and looks like a 3 month process in getting a refund, if at all!! BUY AT YOUR OWN RISK!!!
This Co. is NOT on the UP & UP!!!
