Introducing the WDT - Wireless Data Terminal - Full turbine support from your phone!
Hey guys,
i have finished the development of another cool toy - the WDT - Wireless Data Terminal.
You all remember my TDT - Turbine Data Terminal:
http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/rc-j...oject-ecu.html
White the TDT is a great display, it doesnt allow any programming to be done (no buttons) so i thought about a way to make programming available without carrying any extra gear and the result was clear - cell phone interface!
I have developed this Bluetooth module to work with any Android phone, for my example im using a LG G3 but should work with any android.
Since we all have phone in our pockets anyway, this should mean easy availability for anyone, weather you are already using the TDT, or not!
Yes WDT can be connected via Y connector together with an existing TDT for both on-board display and full cell phone support!
The WDT app does anything the original GSU does, including full displays of all screens, and full programming capability, all while weighing less then 8 grams!
Please check out the video demonstration:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QFA8CzsZ2Us And the attached pics.
WDT is super light, super easy to install. just plug, install app and go!
Should you want one, Unit is priced very affordable at 30$ + 5$ shipping worldwide.
Up to 5pcs at 5$ shipping!
NOTE: Not avilable for Iphones at this time.
thanks for looking.

So you are basically flying an active Bluetooth device in the plane? (or do you switch it off before takeoff?)
Its probably only me that are way to cautious, but I would NEVER install any Wifi or Bluetooth device in a jet and at the same time control the plane over 2.4GHz.
This thread among others, come to mind: https://forum.jet-hangar.de/topic/70...fasst-mit-lbt/

If there is enough interest in an Iphone version, i would consider developing one.
If you mean the Xicoy ECU with phone cable the answer is YES i can make those.
Carsten,
First, BT has been well proven in many ECU interfaces in Jets.
Second, you can switch it off if you like. and you can install it very far from the receiver using a simple servo extension.
however BT is extremely low RF power and shouldnt be interfering with today's modern systems at all. we have proven this with extensive in-model range testing with the BT module sitting on top of the radio Rx. Flight testing proved this also. I have personally flown all weekend with the WDT mounted close to my receiver in my Ultra Flash - absolutely no issues.
If you still wish to do so, simply switch it off before flight.

Wow. So you are flying with a 2.4 Ghz noise generator on board?
Good luck with this.
The Xicoy BT interface automatically shuts down in flight for a reason...

Henke,
Does this Lambert ECU use the standard Xicoy older "phone plug" GSU?
Can you email me a picture of the GSU?

Hello guys,
those of you who are interested in IPHONE support - please email me at: [email protected]
i need to know if there is enough interest to justify the cost of development for IOS.
thanks.
