Sorry for the delay. And yes, the APP is available from Apple (free). It utilizes climate information from either a commercial or military source to accurately determine the density altitude close by (in my case Luke AFB) or; as I choose, another location that I simply type in. I realize that the average modeler could care less about air density, but it sure helps to predict what the roll out or sink rate is going to be on my F-16 or F-18. Another comfort level on a very hot day at altitude with an airframe that has little jet wings.

Now, I've had the chance to really wring out my Navy Viper and still reiterate it flies a lot like the old Carare (Yes, I'm dating myself). The Navy scheme is very easy to see, it rolls very well, and it doesn't care if it's straight and level or inverted. On point rolls it needs a bit more starboard rudder than port, thus the connection to the Curare. BTW, my Tiporare didn't show that tendency-thanks Dick Hanson. And yes, I still wish I had one to fly. The foam Viper is a real treat. Again, put it in the car, go fly it and listen to the folks comment about the smoke; "Wow, the foamy smokes, and it ain't the ESC burning up". Good job on this one Barry and Dirk. Keep 'em coming.

Chris,

Thanks for the report and your honest opinions.

Now onto the long awaited news. THE SHIP HAS COME IN!!! Our container has been off loaded and is currently in customs but they flagged it for a visual inspection. I am told it could be a easy as opening the doors and looking inside, Or they could X-Ray the whole thing, Worse case, they unload the entire container and open all the boxes. Fingers crossed on option #1!! I will let everyone know as soon as I hear it is heading to our warehouse.

Might have to make a phone call and have them "confiscate" one for me. For "Official Business" of course, HA!

Another high quality product arrived today from Kingtech.......a Wingbag (Red) for my Navy Super Viper. Thickly padded and lined with a type of Velour for ultimate protection. It even includes a zippered pocket for the wing rod.

Heres a customs tip that has worked for me over the years, Pay the premium for a weekend clearance. Weekend warriors get paid a full days wage reguardless of hours worked. Once the work load docket s complete they get to go home.
Funny how that works versus MON-FRI........

Got a call today that customs was confiscating the Ferrari jets for trademark infringement. What a bunch of ****heads run this govt. Hundreds of model planes have logos on them from all sorts of companies. I hope this get sorted out but the blame lies squarely on HSD for being so careless. Hey peal off the stickers and send me my plane. I will cover the spots with another company logo that enjoys free advertising.

Hi everyone,

Yes, it is true that customs is in the process of confiscating the Ferrari Vipers for Trademark / Logo infractions. HSD, nor any other RC airplane manufacturers has a License agreement to use the Ferrari Logo or the name Ferrari on airplanes, for the Ferrari Scheme. As you know, they kept the container in the Inspection area for 15 days because they opened every box looking for other infractions. They could only identify the Ferrari Vipers, so they now moved the container to the Detention center for the Import Specialist team 717 to contact Ferrari. Our Legal advisers said they have to release all the other planes and can only keep the Ferrari Vipers that are in question. Our forwarding company has already filed the proper documents asking for the release of the other planes. We are hoping to have them released and delivered to our warehouse this coming week but that could be a bit optimistic knowing our Government efficiencies. The Navy Vipers and all the other Skymaster Planes are safe from retention and will be delivered as soon as we get them to the warehouse. I know this sucks and everything you are thinking, we already said, but the bottom line is, we do not have permission to use the Ferrari Logo. I have been in contact with all the Ferrari pre order customers and made other arrangements. Obviously we will not be taking any Ferrari Viper orders until this matter gets resolved. I Don't think it is fair to put this blame on HSD, as all they did was follow the suite of all the other RC Plane Manufacturers that sell the Ferrari scheme for years. FYI, any Ferrari planes Direct shipped are also subject to confiscation if the postal Customs Inspector catches it.

Best Regards,

Dirk

P.S. If any of you have an uncle that works at Ferrari Legal, Contact me!! LOL...

Dirk, Suppose you offer Ferrari/Customs to replace (cover over) every F sticker with a Kingtech logo (small oval made up with a white background) and show them that removal of the KT sticker would also remove the F sticker and paint as well so no chance exists that it could be reversed.
Claim you are the injured party here because you rely on the manufacturer to clear that stuff. There has to be someone in this chain of events with common sense. After all no one really cares about that logo, That's not why we bought the plane.

One things for sure; I refuse to buy a Ferrari now.

CARF had this happen a few years ago. But not for logos, for design. They held all the scale kits, p-51's, P-47 corsairs, ect

Dirk,
Sergio Marchionne is the CEO of Ferrari. If there are any Fiat Chrysler employees in Michigan that can contact him maybe they can get customs to release the kits. Since all this is is just free advertising for them anyway. It's not like millions of these planes have been sold.

Hi David,

The only picture we have at this time is the picture on our website. The Mirage is still being tested at this time by numerous pilots in China and has been pushed out to a March release, hopefully. We are really happy to see HSD is completely testing this plane before they release it and we fully support their efforts. I know when they revised the Super Viper, they went through at least 4 different servo brands before they found the servos that worked best along with other product tweeks. We will post any new news as soon as we get it. Please be patient, as HSD & PRCJ only wants to deliver Quality products!

Regards,

Dirk

That would be ideal if we had a RC flyer that worked at the plant and had a connection to resolve our issue. The good news is, we have been informed today by our forwarding company, that customs was releasing the remaining portion of our container today. Once they figure out all the extra fee's we will get them paid and hopefully we will have a big box of planes delivered to our warehouse before the weekend.

Cheers,

Dirk

What brand did they go with Dirk?

After almost a year with PowerHD LF-20 servos in my Boomerang I'm pretty happy with them. Had the LF-13 in a H-9 Valiant for almost 2 1/2 years
