Default B-2 Bomber Crash Best In The West 2016

The new B-2 Bomber crashed on landing Thursday. They repaired the damage and attempted to fly it that evening and it crashed while taking off. I have video of the first crash, and part of the second. The guys standing in back of the pilot boxes, spectating not callers blocked the cartwheels.

Ouch Financial damage can be overcome but limbs and lives not so easilly. Hope everyone is OK, it's a difficult thing no doubt.

That is sad to hear. If its the CARF B2 from Jet power that was a beautiful jet. Condolences go out to the owner.

Bummer, I watched the B2 fly at jetpower and was amazed at the stability of the model on take-off, flight and landing. In the air the planform is unmistakeable.

The Carf SU 27 and their F100 are outstanding. The B2 was not so good.

The CARF B2 is an awesome model. But with something that technologicaly challenging it's gonna take a few attempts to get all of the bugs out.

Kudos to CARF to attempting something so ambitious.

I saw the takeoff crash. It looked like he had something on the roll causing it to veer slightly to the left. The pilot corrected properly with the right clamshell deployed but when the wing rotated it was to much correction to the right. That caused a quick right yaw turn once airborne which caused the instability and crash.

The plane held up quit well considering. It took out the nose wheel but it remained largely intact.

Still a very impressive model and I am looking forward to seeing it fly again soon.

I do have my cellphone video of it and it shows what I described. Out of respect to CARF and the efforts they have put into this challenging project I am not comfortable posting it. I wish them all the best and can't wait to see the new and improved back in the air.

Happy Flying,

SteveK

I dont think people are here to bash the co.pany or product but to acknowledge the effort and craftsmanship in even attempting this.

I am very interested in this aircraft so very tuned into this post. Is there any possibility of a partial or flameout on the left engine causing it to veer to the left?

Crap happens in the hobby and this is no different. Every new air-frame suffers set backs. I'm sure they'll get it sorted out.

guys,,,,,,,the B2 doesnt fly. Its an aerodynamic aberration controlled by a very hard working flight control computer (just like an F-16, F-117......but worse).

The fact that this model has already flown many times is testimony to top notch modelers behind this project.

Getter done again!

As mentioned above.. I don't think anyone has any questions about the integrity, or failures ect, other than just looking.

Its hard to not want to look.....just being honest. So let's see it!

I say there's no need to show it. Just like rubber neckers passing a wreck slow to try and see carnage. Pointless.

If its anything like my 123" HO-229 was, ANY crosswind over about 4mph or greater than 20-30* off thr runway heading was a 90% gauranteed crash on takeoff. That thing just despised cross winds. It'd immediately start to weathervane into the wid. The upwind wing would left, putting the airplane into a knife-edge, then spin along the axis from wingtip to wingtip 180* to where it would be flying Trailing edge first, then roll inverted and pancake into the ground, all in about 5 seconds and absolutely Nothing you could do to prevent it from happening once the takeoff roll has started.

Very sorry to see the takeoff, the B-2 was beautiful, the entire CARF team was very professional as usual and I am sure we'll see them put it back in the air again soon.

Regards,
Barry

The actual flight and crash of the B-2 will be on the DVD and Blu-Ray, the second crash I am still waiting for the security clearance to post.

The SU-27 had a gear issue with only one main extended on landing. When it landed that wheel also collapsed into the fuse. They damn near lost the F100 as well having a flame out on take off. Fortunately the pilot was able to turn it around and dead stick it down wind. It's got a JetCat P-300 and it seems like those flame out more than they run?
