Wow. Wish I had the runway and transport for a 3.5 scale; I'll have to stick with 1/5th. I'm jealous.

One problem with the 162 and turbine operation is that the tail is in the hot exhaust. The cjm kit has styrene parts that don't like heat. Mine was setup for turbine but a few parts were worse for wear after a few starts. I converted it to edf.

This is the Modelcity HE-162 1/3.5 scale
Wingspan 78.75 inch
Langth: 101 inch
Weight dry: 28lbs-33lbs
Turbine 22lbs to 39lbs thrust

This is one very large and comparatively heavy plane. I have seen them flying on P160 size turbines. Are you really sure that there is a EDF unit that can deliver enough power to fly it? Shame you are not proceeding with the CJM version.

I have thought about this. It is a comparatively trivial matter to make a jet pipe that has an upwards directed outlet that would deflect the airflow off the rear and help with eliminating the nose pitch down effect on full power.

The JCM is more suited for a EDF. I'm get a 160 for the modelcity kit.

I have finally decided to go with a Kingtech Turbine. However I'm not sure on what size I should go with. The few people who have the modelcity are using jetmunts 140. The Kingtech 160 does 35lbs and the 180 is 40lbs. I'm not going to be 3D flying the thing. But can one over power a jet?

This one at Jetpower 2014 was powered by a Behotec 180 according to the commentary.

Sorry my fault, you are right I misheard the commentary about the Me 163.
Anyway here is the Large Model City one.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xf2C-wvHmV4

This is powered by a Frank turbine TJ74 160N engine it weighs 21Kg. I struggled to find many videos. A few years ago I was at ModelCity in the Czech republic and saw Peter Massinger flying the first ones that he made.
Does not look overpowered with a 160N engine.
