Here is another pic of the 820 in what looks like a G version. I am sure it is possible that the 820 started out as an A model and was retired when the later G model was produced.

Hi Joe. I am the stage in my CF-104 where I need to install the chute. I am interested in how this release would work. Also not sure what the other item you have fabricated is that goes across the top of the chute box. Any further pictures you can share would be appreciated. My chute mechanism is also from Dan.
Here is the tow release and servo... fairly straight forward. The servo is closer to the tail and release towards the nose.
shows the box, bell crank, linkage and box servo in closed position.
box in open position.... notice linkage and bell cranks.
The idea is to eliminate the air system except for the plunger. I didn't want a chance that the air would be lost and the door would drop open and chute sucked out. You can set up the bell crank and servo system so that there is a mechanical lock since the bell crank arms are vertical when closed.

linkage going down to the box from the bell crank. If you look closely you can see the tow release on the rear edge of the fuse. You can also see the notch in the top of the box so you have clearance for the chute cable
