That's an interesting question. I don't know the definitive answer to that question. However, my guess is that the doors stay up normally, but there is undoubtedly a capability to lower them on the ground for servicing the equipment inside the well. I would think that once lowered that way, they would not be able to come up until the aircraft's hydraulic system was powered up again.
The P-51 had main gear doors that worked similarly, and I had heard that they often sagged down, or lowered completely when the aircraft was not running. However, I've since read that this was not the case for a normal P-51 in that there are check-valves in the system that are supposed to prevent that. However, in a restored P-51 that has not been flown for awhile, the doors may droop or open because of leakage around the check valve - or so I've read...
As somewhat of an aside, I found the following paragraph in the T-45 aerodynamics flight instruction handbook which I found interesting...
"sail area" clearly a Navy aerodynamics term...

On my freewing T45 when them doors open to let the gear in that planes is all over the place. So it was interesting to read that out of the full scale manual
