I'm with you, that's a lot of writing. I was going to ask him if he understood that you were supposed to use the manual as a reference, not glue the pages to the side of the plane.

This nomenclature complies with Navair 01-45HHD-2-2-1 which was mandatory on all embarked aircraft during Vietnam War.
The plane was literally covered with maintenance instructions as they had a requirement for quick turnarounds on the deck and the technician did not have the time to refer to the AMM for regular servicing.

Similarly, the F-4s of this period were literally covered with instructions.

These don't show on most pictures of that time as they were quite small ( 5/16" on average ). On our Crusader, this nomencalture is barely visible 4 feet away from the plane. Fonts are 2.5 to 4 points.

As a scale enthusiast, I could not oversee this. I did a lot of research on this and spent a considerable amount of time creating the graphics.
It is what makes Ultimate jets different from other players on the market. We focus on details and deliver a product that is far beyond the competition in term of flying characteristics, technicalities and scale features.

Now I also understand that not all of our customers will show their planes at Top Gun. We also offer a simplified nomenclature with only the main markings, which is significantly cheaper to order.

For those interested there is an excellent book on the subject :"The Official Monogram US Navy and Marine Corps Aircraft Colour Guide. Vol 4 1960 -1993"by Major John M Elliott, USMC Ret. It's all in there !

It even contains colour chips of all the relevant FS paints. I used this for my BVM F4 (still flying ) which scored 100% for colours and markings.at its JWM years ago in Thailand using Humbrol paints which really are very accurate .

The ISBN is 0-914144-34-0, a superb book worthy of a place in the library of anyone modelling a USN or USMC aircraft of the period.

Oli
I hope no offence was taken at my attempt at good natured ribbing. At a time when the nomenclature of some other manufacturers model have glaring spelling and grammatical errors that have been that way for years it's nice to see someone trying so hard to get it right. I love scale planes but I don't do many as do not have the skill to produce what I would consider a good scale model aircraft. I really like the way you're reproducing the ripples and wrinkles and all the other little details that are so hard to reproduce. It shows a passion for creating that perfect representation that few other manufacturers are even attempting.

No worries. So do I.. This is why I am working so hard on these kits!
Soon anyone will be able to own a Top Gun grade jet with minimal work required!

I am working on really stunning and truly unique new models!!!

Meet Bu.No. 150924.
The first Mig Master of Vietnam War.
This F-8E flown by Hal Marr scored the first Mig kill of the war.

It took Woody and I a lot of research to replicate this plane faithfully.
So we will be really proud to show it ( hopefully in flight ) at Florida Jets.

I agree - very nice!! I like the old military color schemes when they make the insignias huge - makes it interesting to look at. And easier to figure out who the good guy or bad guy is!

You mean back when the military painted planes in colors other than gray?

Very nice Oli, very nice.

Thank you all for the kind words.

Here is the fin of 151774 VFMA-112, Dallas.
This is the first production aircraft ( Bu.No. 150924 being the last pre-production prototype ).
151774 is significantly lighter and improved compared to the later.
Our target is to finish this one on time for Mississippi Afterburner.

Here is the fin with the red stripes added.
Amazing how a little bit of red can change the appearance of a part.

The serial number of the first production plane is 151774.
The last Crusader airframe produced by Vought was 151773.

So we are basically carrying on the production line number from the original manufacture.

Every parts of our airframes are labeled by serial number.
The plane comes with a set of quality documents from our CNC and composite manufacture lines. These include quality control certificates, as well as a certificate of airworthiness.
It also comes with an access to our live progress report system which provide pictures of the manufacture of your airframe as well as lists of critical tasks completion and photographic proofs.
Our OPS manual that comes with the plane, also takes the layout from the original Crusader flight manual. It is labelled/ tailored for the owner.

Our production lines and processes comply with MIL-Q-9858.

Hi Oli,

I am sure you have this all figured out, but how much detail can you put in the cockpit without having to put lead in that short tail?

Buck check your PMs

The plane requires quite a bit of equipment shift towards the nose to balance without ballast.
You need the following:
2 2S 2500 mAh lipo batteries
1 3S 3500 mAh lip battery
1 GPS module ( we use our CAN GPS )
1 telemetry module ( we use our ASSI )
1 gyro
The full ultra scale 3D printed cockpit.

Here are some pictures of the cockppit:

Without the clear canopy. The entire ultra scale cockpit assembly slides inside the canopy frame and is screwed to it as one piece.

Here are some pictures of the Martin Baker MKV.
I spent over a hundred hours CAD designing this seat. I believe that this is the most accurate 3D printed seat available on the market.
It comes painted with laser printed stickers.

Quite honestly, I do not think that you will find any airplane on the market that come so close to the real thing. And I know what I am talking about, as we are distributing the Mibo A-10 in the USA...

Oli, I agree. The cockpit and markings detail are awesome. I can see one of these jets in my future as my bigger ones disappear. I like the smaller size and weight with the incredible engineering, testing, and scale details. I'm have a harder time picking up and moving the giants around as old fartism takes it toll. Keep up the great work.

Gary
