Default Mississippi Afterburner 2017, April 20-22

It's time for the 26th Afterburner. I'm getting old. For any newbies, it's at the airport in Raymond MS, 6000', lots of RV parking, Jet A and oil on site. overnight airplane storage.Saturday nite has the best food around including 200lbs of crawfish, 3 flavors of homemade cobbler, 5 flavors of homemade ice cream. Dawn, Bob-O and Price cook breakfast in the hanger Friday and Saturday mornings, eggs, bacon, sausage, pancakes free to the pilots and crew. Lots of pilot giveaways and a great auction. Bring extra bucks for the custom made Mississippi potato gun in the auction. Commercial tents available. For you who don't know, this events raises money for a scholarship fund for the aviation department of the school who owns the airport we use. So we're having fun and doing some good. We have kept people in school who otherwise would have not financially be able to stay. Thank you! None of the money we take in goes in our pockets. Registration is $40.00 preregister or $60.00 on site. Go to MississippiJets.org and click on afterburner for a registration form. Call me on tents and questions. Vernon 601-955-3826.

The new construction is finished at the airport and everything is grassed over where the tents will be set.
Flying starts Thursday morning. You will be able to setup anytime after 3pm on Wednesday.

Rex, I was in your area a few days ago on my way to Champaign IL. If I had known you lived there, you could have bought me dinner. I guess you can buy dinner in Mississippi.

Man, would have loved seeing you Bob-O! But no, the "home state dinner purchase rule" is in effect...So, Vernon buys when we are there!

Rex. Forgot about the home state rule. One way to solve the dinner problem is for you to just send me the money for dinner
I'm at Florida Jets now

Probably. We had mud from the construction last year. This year, we may do it a little different. We've got nice grass everywhere now. Were you on the full scale taxiway?

I was past the last regular tent on the taxi way, on the side of the registration tent.

Gotten a bunch of commercial tents orders in. I need all orders as soon as possible. Have sizes up to 40x35 available. Gotten a lot of pre registers in too. Looks like it's gonna another great turnout. We had 82 or 83 pilots last year. May beat it from the looks so far for the 26th Mississippi Afterburner.

Vernon, hats off to you and the "crew"...you run a great event. It ought to be "high demand!"
