Default MKS orf Savox

Well since it seems that JR is no longer shipping products I need to decide what servos to use in my projects. MKS and Savox are the front runners. How about some comments from users of both. Dont mention Hitech or Spektrum as I dont trust either of them for a jet. If you use them thats up to you, I just dont want to be lectured.

I have used both brands with great success. The MKS777 are my favorite choice if they fit (they are a bit taller than standard) but I also have great great success with Savox 1230 and 2230. The MKS have a smoother gear train and buzz less, but I couldn't find any significant differences in performance.

I heard on another forum that JR is starting to ship product again and that the slow down was caused by a factory change.

Been using Savox for a couple years now and they have been great. 1230's and 1256. I'm putting MKS 777 in my 1/5 scale F-16 and running @ 7.4v
I have plenty of friends using them and like the Savox, no issues at all.

You cant go wrong with ether..

What's the big Taboo on Spektrum servo's ?? We have had great luck with them and are running the 6265's in Rebel Pro and Skymaster stuff... Anyone have bad experience with them ??

Like most of their stuff as of late they had a bunch of bad ones go out. I out fitted Barry lightning with them and they developed tons of play in the gears and the head of the servo only programming them and not evesn flying yet. I pulled them all out and installed JRs in it. Also Pablo had some issues with them as well along with a few other friends.

My servo of choice as of late has been the savox servos. I had all savox in my big F15 and loved them.

The Savox are nice especially for the price. I have them in my PM Dolphin. I was a Futaba/JR servo guy for years. No problems with either, but for my money the MKS servo are top notch. I put all MKS servos in my Vixen. My next large model will get the same treatment. These servos are CNC'd nicely and built like a tank. They center well with excellent torque. I don't have much time on them but I expect them to continue to perform well. A lot of 3D Heli guys used these servos, so just imagine the torture they put these servo through. This was one of the main reason I decide to give them a try. Just be aware the 380's (X8) require special MKS servo arms.

Anybody have a chart comparing similar servos across brands (particularly MKS and Savox)? Guess I'm going to have to go through them one by one comparing dimensions, torque, speed, voltage, etc.. to find equivalent replacements for my familiar JR servos.

I don’t have any JR equipment but a guy from JR Americas told me yesterday they are starting to receive new stock, just passing the info along for what its worth.

I'll stick with my PowerHD LF-20's for my sport jet until I need more torque than the 277 oz-in they produce at 6.6v, then I will move up to the Savox servos

Had LF-20's for a year in a Boomerang without even so much as a flutter, hickup, or sneeze.

For comparing servos I ran across this website: http://www.servodatabase.com/servos/all

I don't know who these guys are but they list 109 servo manufacturers and specs for 2,426 servos! Easy to locate and compare servos, including discontinued ones.

Like said earlier products for JR are slowly coming in, currently the only servo they have in stock that pertains to Jets is the NX8935 which it seems like they have a lot of. receivers are next to come in next week and then another round of servos in June.
http://www.jramericas.com/235925/JRPSNX8935/?pcat=293

As far as the other servos, both brands make a quality product. make sure you compare apples to apples. brushless vs coreless servos. I have friends using both in helicopters, Jets, and 3d planes. MKS can get real pricey on the x8 seris when you have to rig out 7 or 8 servos at $150 to $200 a piece.

Well I have not use MKS but I did use Savox on a Gaui NX7 Heli and two servos burnt or stop working
on the first flight , just hovering . I do not know the reason , I returned them to the store and Savox replaced them .
I have not flown the Heli since as winter stepped .
So this is my experience not necessary a positive or a negative .
This I believe can happen with any servo , but two at the same time had me thinking .
I have used on my jets successfully other brands and very happy to say I have not had an issues

Where does one get service for either of these Servos?

Seems like Bravo77 got lucky by his "store" replacing them for him.

For what its worth, I have some MKS 747's in some gear doors and so far so good, but that is NOT a shinning recommendation from me. I just haven't put the use and abuse on them to really say anything.

That said, they look like jewelry, they are so pretty!

Savox USA (see savoxusa.com) and MKS Servos USA (see mksservosusa.com) service these brands in the USA.
