Hi everyone,

I want to experiment making my own tires. I am not satisfied with these new inflatable tires, and I have had good luck with the solid BVM tires so I would like to try to make something like that.
So does anyone have a source for the room temperature rubber I can try?

I was looking at these:
Urethane Casting Resins | Fibre Glast

The 60 Shore D is what I was thinking of. Pigment it black, but it's expensive. Maybe get it cheaper elsewhere?

I made a dirt bike tire in 1/4 scale for a prototype RC bike I designed. The BJB Enterprises Castable Urethane I used was very durable and did not tear or split. It can cast very well in a silicone mold and picks up a lot of surface detail like letters or even finger prints. I did tint it with black, works great.
Make sure you vent the mold and pull vacuum on your resin to take out bubbles.

I am considering making "inner tubes" from above for inflatable tires. Similar to that used for puncture proof mountain bikes...

Yes it seems that the air filled tire was a classic "solution in search of a problem".
