Futaba 18channel receiver
Does anyone know what is happening with the 18channel futaba receiver. They appear to be discontinued. I have an 18MZ. I have a smaller jet with 16 channels, I usually use a14 channel receiver plugged into an orbit jack. It has always been great. Why do I have to buy 2 receivers from futaba, find and aftermarket solution to combine both receivers just to get 18 channels. What do most people use with futaba to get more than 14 proportional channels?

I have 2 planes with 8 Futaba channel rx and a sb2 with 8 more channels. As has been mentioned the alternative is to link 2 8 channel receivers together.
I have one plane with 2 3 channel s bus receivers feeding a powerbox SRS which has a built in sequencer. This gives 12 simple channels running with dual diversity. 6 channels have the ability to servo match potentially saving channels. If you do run out of channels the 2 3 channels in the separate receivers can also be used.
In short there are lots of different ways of getting more channels and also cheaper than using the 18 or 14 channel receivers. I had one plane with the 18 channel receiver and had no issues with it. In the past I too would have used the 6014 receiver but things have noved on now.

Another Option
A R6014 14channel receiver is $179.99.
An option I've used is two R6308 receivers ($69.99 each) and a Powerbox SRS Power Expander ($145.00). That gives you 18 PWM channels out as well as an Sbus out, dual receiver diversity, and power isolation for the receivers from the servos. The total price is $284.00, not that much more than a single receiver solution...

Sbus rocks.
I put 1 x 3 channel decoder in each wing to start with. That is 6 channels with 1 wire.
Another 3 channel decoder in the tail for 2 x elev and rudder.
Thats 9 channels and still 1 wire from the RX
