Default Giant scale Vulcan (4 turbines / 20 feet wingspan). Filmed in UltraHD/4K

Powered by four 160N engines and weighing 139 kg (300 pounds). This is up there with the biggest RC models. Flown by Dave Johnson of the Large Model Association (LMA), UK at the LMA Cosford Show.

Dom great to see your making some cool vids, that is certainly an amazing beast.

I appreciate the weather was very windy and it may appear there was an issue with a turbine so its going to be a bit of a handful with regards to looking totally scale and not a tad kite like but I have one main bug bear, why spend all this time and effort hand making this fantastic jet and still run the landing gear on air - those gear legs flopping down just kills it IMO. There are plenty of hydraulic systems on the market now which would transform this jet.

Maybe a question of cost Marc? Of the small number of big jets with hydraulic systems I have seen at shows they all seem to have more problems than air and electric versions. Maybe another reason. But yeah, I agree, a slow scale deployment of the gear would look really good on video.

I'm fairly sure it doesn't have gyros.

Hi Dom,

I have been following your videos for a while, just wanted to say that I enjoy them very much, each and every one of them.
You have a great "eye" for catching everything in the right proportions, vids are in the right size - thanks for sharing!

Cheers,
Ziv

Appreciate the feedback Ziv! Been doing it a while so I should be fairly good at it by now. Hoping to visit 'Mach Loop' in Wales week after next to catch some jets flying through Welsh valleys. Looking for more opportunities to film full size as well these days.

Andreas of CARF Models does something I've never seen before with an RC jet. He executes a perfect Pugachev Cobra manoeuvre ! An aggressive change in pitch brings the jet from level to vertical in almost an instant. Used by pilots to evade a enemy chasing them at close range. Just awesome to watch this done for the first time in front of a big crowd. Look out for the 'Cobra' at 3:45 into the video.

No. I went to JetPower and filmed once and the facilities were not very good. Due to the safety fencing and the fact that photographers are not allowed 'air side' we only had an unstable raised platform to stand-on. It was small, and crowded, and made it very difficult to film good video. I am going to ask on the JP thread if someone could take a picture of where the photographers are this year to see if it has been improved. I would consider going back if it's better but otherwise not.

Definitely the lowest pass you will ever see executed by a very expensive turbine jet. This could have ended so badly...but Mike does like practising his low passes.

Superb Avro Vulcan XH355 bomber from master builder Tony Nijhuis. Fitted with 'after-burners' and at 98 inch wingspan it makes quite an impression. Flown at Southern Model Show to a very appreciative crowd.

Simon Potter flying his superb Tomahawk Designs L-39 Albatros XXL at a Jet Modellers Association meeting at the BMFA National Visitor Centre in Buckminster, Lincolnshire. This model is decorated in the scheme of the Baltic Bees Jet Team. Simon is obviously a fan and who can blame him. If you watch videos of them performing you can see what he is trying to emulate in terms of flying style.
