Picking up a 1/7 Skymaster F4 this afternoon. Question for the guys flying them now. Turbine I currently have is a 34lb JC Cheetah. F4 is currently being flown well on a 38lb Rhino. Hope is the lighter Cheetah and possibly the chance to remove some nose weight will get me close to the same thrust/ weight ratio. Anyone flying one on a large can 160 which would be about the same thrust/ weight? How is performance? Other option is to purchase a larger motor but it will be flown scale so really don't need a ton of thrust. Thanks for the input.

I have been flying them for a while. It will fly on the smaller motor but I fly mine on K210. Weight is handled well by the F4. I can fly 8 minute flights. Not all at full throttle. If you are going to fly clean wing it will be fine. Enjoy

Like Kevin I fly a Kt210. It’s great if it’s cool or if the plane is clean. If it’s hot (were 2000’MSL so density altitude plays a huge part) I go cleanwing otherwise I’m on downwind before pulling flaps up. Full disclosure I went crazy with scale details so mine is 42# dry. Hot day, the TERs and ranks and it’s a LOT of drag...even for the 210 at our altitude

Thanks for the quick responses. Basically fly at sea level and it will be flown clean for now. If I decide to add stores it wil need a larger turbine for sure. Think it is 36 pounds dry now so Cheetah is a pound lighter and possibly remove a little from the nose so possibly 34.5 dry.

Probably won’t have a ton of excess smash going uphill but it will give you the opportunity to really refine the capabilities of the plane at slightly less than 1:1. When you decide you want to add drop tanks, perhaps bombs on the inboard pylon, centerline gunpod etc etc. the extra power will be a breath of fresh air.

These pics are a few days old now, but Yeahbaby Buck G finally got a chance to fly his Camo F-4, at the HOTMAC field in Waco TX. Test flights went good. Hopefully we'll get another chance to get it in the air later this week - last chances to get ready before the Southwest Jet Rally in Waco next month.... Here are a few pics from my phone...

lol ya ya, note the pylons need to be shimmed for correct angles and the Lau-10s and drop tanks are just taped in place.

Working on Phantom #2. Sold the other one. How does wing tanks on/off affect cg? Im working on pylons and tanks now. Putting ply in pylons and will drill for 4-40 threaded inserts in wing. Didnt trust wood screws. Plan on flying it with wing tanks and inboard pylons. 210 for blow.

You may find a minor trim change but that’s it. 210 is good power, but AMT Olympus HP is awesome power!

Outstanding amigo. If you don’t already have Aim7s you should get in touch with Ron. They really add character to the bird.

Hey guys,

Could someone take measurements of the outlet diameter of the Tam-Pipe for the F4 with 200-class thrust? I currently have a Skymaster pipe, and it exits at 60mm (just under 2 3/8").

Thanks

67mm. Just measured my spare. 7mm doesn’t sound like a lot but remember you get to square that for outlet area

Default Tires and brakes

Gentlemen;

Where do you guys buy Tires and Brakes? I’ve written John, at Skymaster twice. Once in Feb, and again April. I never heard back and could be due to the C19 virus?
Is anyone having any luck here in the USA with any of the dealers? I’m in the market for a set of tires and brakes, should anyone have spares that they want to sell. Thanks!
