I was going through the manual for the V2 tube and read this:

"It has been proven that a lip over a cone, the thrust increase is up to 1 kg!"

Why is this? What is the physics behind this?

Easier, greater flow of cold air mixing in the pipe-Though I'm surprised how small the gap is they recommend with this set up. 20mm is too small in my mind.
We are doing something similar and have gone more than double that, will see how noisy it ends up

In the manual, on page 13, they recommend to set aileron to 30/33mm but Im not sure if that's from the root (in the connection with the flap) or at the tip of the ailron.

- it makes sense to set it at the root, but it looks too little. At the tip it looks too much

Any ideas what I should set it to? (Ultimately at the end I'll set it the way that it feels in the air, but I'm trying to dial in the settings for the cofted the way they recommended)

Set it at the root and adjust after you have flown it. It's very smooth in roll, so you can max the travel and its not at all sensitive

Thanks guys! I confirmed with Andreas (carf) that was max throw at the time of setting up the cortex. So, 30/33 mm at the tip.

Maiden soon!

This is the Zimmerman pipe. Will get on with fitting it when I get some time.

Hi Andrew,

Do you think it is worth it to replace the stock VT with this one?
Is it better?
I am about to complete mine now, and I am not sure whether to upgrade or not.

Thanks,
ziv

I'm only changing mine because the old one started jamming the vector in certain situations after about 70 flights. I'd just fly the pipe you have.

It sounds like this pipe should give a little more thrust but it doesn't seem to have as much throw as the old version. It's the same pipe that Rummer uses and he gets plenty of response / agility so I'm sure it'll be fine once it's all set up.

Guys, I maiden it today! What's an amazing plane... So different than other jets. I can't wait to fly it again.

After inspecting the turn, I notice a bit of a burn in it. Is that something the requires attention or fine as is?
(I doubled checked that the engine is dead center.)

Mmm it’s at the top! I would say you have had a hot start, I’ve not seen that on any of ours. You should protect it since the resin is all dried out. I’d clean it up with a coarse scuff board, coat it in finishing resin and maybe give it a coat of heat shield paint.

One year to the day, I test flew my Mephisto at our local field, since the forecast was OK for today I decided to take it out for its Birthday, even though the grass is quite damp and I've spent half an hour cleaning it!
Still a great flying aeroplane, perfect for small fields, the package has been totally reliable, Airframe and retracts have had nothing done to them in 1 years flying, the JetCat P-220Rxi needed a new starter motor back in March, but has been faultless since, I love that I am 12 months down the road and I have not charged the ECU pack since it was installed a year ago! Occasional checks on the balance has shown the 50c Overlander 3700 2s Li-Po stays in balance with the generator only charging the pack to around 95%. I had not flown it for 2 months before today and it started up first time-amazing!
Because I'm a nice guy ;-) I let flying buddy Little Stevie have a flight just like I did the first day last year..he still wants one-just needs the lottery to come in!

Few shots over a couple of flights. DW

In fairness I only had to do a quick Antwerp return. Claire's still not popped!

Here's a video of my 3rd flight:
As for the bell; I took ziv's advise and coated the inside with BVM heatshield paint. That seems to work great.

Taking a closer look at the ignition of my kt320, I can see that every time it starts, it shoots flames towaret the bottom left side of the bell. I'll take a video of it next time. It's possible that something is off with this engine.

I also trying to solve an issue I have with the gears. The left gear didn't close all the way in 2 of my 5 flights and it caused the gear door to break the horn of the pushrod that's glued to the door. (The door couldn't close all the way due to the gear)

It's possible that I can solve it with additional power to that gear in the electron contrilcon settings, or by being more careful and try to retract at a lower speed. But I would like to think about more permanent solution in case on of the gears doesn't close all the way.
