Default Some Vital History

Just to let everyone know some event weather history.
We have hosted 4 Best in the West Jets, and 11 Jet Jams for a total of 15 events, All had severe clear conditions.
Last years Saturday was rainy.
I leave all of you to make your own decisions whether to come or not.
Dear Desert Lakes, I certainly hope you have a snow free drive and can join us.

Hi Jordan

Of course all of you can fly Thursday thru Monday which is Presidents Day.

Our event is non competitive and OPEN TO ALL Jet Pilots, turbine waiver required, there will be one trophy provided by Jet Pilots Organization that will be for the best pilot. Only the pilots will vote for that peer award.

We are not using Flight Deck, sign up at the field. We beg all of you to fill out our sheet telling us about your planes, the announcer will really appreciate it. Please......

We will have a drawing for the pilots, based on the most flights, get a ticket for each flight. We will start with 500 bucks in the kitty, 250 for first drawing, 100, 100, and 50 for the last ticket. Therefore all of you will have 4 chances to win some money.

Lunch will be provided for the pilots on Friday and Saturday by our on site caterer Cone Zone. Great burgers and more.
There are a couple of casinos close by for Lobster feasts and their famous Chocolate fondue fountains......

So far we have Rob Thomas owner of Rise UP Hobbytown our new local Hobby shop
Jet Pilots Organization
Paul Stenberg of Zap Glue/House of Balsa
E Power electric products, wiring and more
others soon to be announced

Dan

I'm going to be out there early to get my turbine waiver again, since mine expired before they stopped expiring, and the AMA refuses to grandfather me.. :-/

Geez Doug I had no idea that the AMA did that...... No problem we can handle that for you earlier in the week. I am a CD with a Waiver, that along with Rich Willabee we can take care of that. Please bring your AMA paper work with you.

See you soon

Hi Dan

Great to hear your coming early. That way we can install the speakers etc. knowing that you will be onsite the whole week. I think our English Jet friend Jonathan Smith is coming Wednesday in his motor home. I met him in Kentucky, great guy.

We are advertising on various blogs that could reach over 20k people. Cone Zone will be here with those great icy lemonades and fresh burgers too.

We will have a couple of vendors too.

Should be a lot of mid winter fun for everyone.

Hi Guys

The timeline is getting short.
Lots of California and Arizona guys are coming.

Pilot Auction items are starting to arrive. Thanks to the following companies.
Jersey Modelers, 2-5 gallon Jet A 9.6 volt fuelers. Great deal from Dean at www.jerseymodeler.com

NIB Cortex Gyro with programming cable. +++ From our new hobby shop. www.riseuphobbytown.com
thank you Rob Thomas

A 500 dollar cert off of the New Sparrow Jet from Pacific RC Jets thanks to Dirk from www.pacificrcjets.com
Lots of other Jet stuff from Dirk too.

Barry Hou from www.kingtechturbines.com is kicking in Jet mystery items, I know that they will be great ones, plus that super King Tech OIL.

Some great items from Dream Works too, batteries, valves, heat proofing, Festo etc.

Neal Smiley just bought
www.detail4scale.com he is bringing shirts and possibly more for donations.
Paul Stenberg is donating lots of ZAP products, see his full line at
www.zapglue.com or www.houseofbalsa.com

If any of you have donate-able items, please bring them along as your fellow Jet buddies will love them.

We also are having a 500 dollar drawing the pilots for most flights, Fly and get a raffle ticket per flight for that drawing, 250,100,100,50.. Four ways to win

Part of the proceeds will be sent to the following veterans organizations. Wounded Warriors, and the RAW group, Rebuilding America's Wounded.

Guys are arriving the Monday the 12th before so if you guys want to stay until the following Monday the 19th Presidents Day it will not be a problem.

Trying for a full week of Jets flying for the first time.

Lets see where this goes!

Hi Everyone.

The long term weather forecast is looking wonderful, severe clear skies with warm days and refreshing nights.

Also the NOTAM has been applied for, giving us 1 mile radius and a 800 foot ceiling. Full scale traffic is cleared down to 1000 AGL in our area, that should give us a 200 foot cushion. Actually we have very little overhead traffic.

Also remember that our field is at Sea Level with the actual SL line running thru the runway. That's why jets fly so good down here, the air is nice and thick.

See you all in 2 weeks.

Dan

I fly my jets at Coachella all the time. First of all if you have flown there for any length of time you will find that the wind can change direction at times. You can't always go by what the weather forecasts for wind direction. Because of that we get plenty of practice landing from the South and landing from the North. That's what make a good jet pilot. 3 to 8 mph wind for a jet is nothing anyway. If you are worried about late afternoon Sun to the south you just have to adjust your approach to a lower altitude and no big deal. DLF, if you can't land from either direction you probably shouldn't come to the event.

Rich
