Got the turbine installed and raised the tail pipe a bit. It's pretty well centered as far as I'm concerned. My sheetmetal tools came in handy for drilling those holes...

Just Google 'pancake drill attachment'. A few companies make them.

at 5 minute 10sec you can see the predator make the compression ring phenomenon. I dont know what it's called but full scale do it on fast fly bys.

I wanted more roll rate, so I turned up the control throws on my ailerons. Now when I get close to full stick deflection I get a whistling noise. I’m guessing it is coming from the opening where the live hinge on the aileron is. Kind of like blowing over the top of a coke bottle. Anyone else get this? What’s the best way to make it stop, other than lowering the control throw back down.

Cool observation...this must be the first time a R/C jet ever create this phenomenon?

it is from the opening in the alierons. you can seal the openings with hysol.

LOL yep, just like the Comp-ARF planes, they all howl like a tie fighter when you kick full aileron, most people just put up with it.

What is everyone finishing out on weight? I'm right at 30lbs with a full uat. Seems heavy. I thought they were supposed to be closer to 25lbs? Only added weight is in the cf reinforced wing tube that added 6 ounces, and I could drop maybe 6 more ounces with minimalist battery setup.

Mine came in at 35 pounds with full UAT and about an inch of fuel. 43.36 pounds takeoff weight. My buds plane is 2 pounds lighter than mine. His engine and battery packs are smaller than mine.

Ok, so I'm in spec. Still not real thrilled with the wing clamping method, but I tried pulling the wings out with some might and they stayed. Probly gonna tape the wing seams for some sense of a margin of safety.

I have many flights on mine and have had no issue with the clamp. Just makes sure you tighten the clamps with the wing out to make sure you get a good fit.

Nice. In relation to the 4mm bolt hole, where is your cg? And are you a nose heavy favored flyer, or neutral flyer?

Anyone else have issues with the kevlar tank system that's included? Looks like it's gonna cost me another $150...
as soon as I fill the air trap, it starts emptying into the main tank. Great...

Isn’t it supposed to do that?

Funny you should mention that. Yesterday I finally diagnosed what had become an increasing amount of air in the UAT section after each flight. I found a small leak between the main tank and UAT - this eventually caused a flameout that fortunately I was able to land from w/o issue. It was a very small pin-hole, but at throttle settings above about 50%, or even when de-fueling the tank you could see a steady stream of small bubbles rising from the floor of the front left corner of the UAT (drawing air from the main tank). As a solution I have removed the top 90 fitting that feeds from the main tank and used the access to drill a 3/16" hole straight through the floor of the UAT to the main tank. I'll replace the removed fitting with a high flow vent fitting Hysol'd in place, block off the the fuel suction line from the UAT and the old vent from the main tank and use the UAT volume to add to the main tank volume and use the old UAT fuel suction as my new vent. I'll then install a standard UAT and expect everything should be good as the fuel systems on my other jets that I've never had a problem with. It took nearly 100 flights for the leak to develop to the point I noticed it. I suspect the integrity of the UAT floor on your tank is compromised worse than mine was.

No. The main tank is supposed to empty into the air trap. The air trap tank is leaking into the main through a crack or void in the kevlar between the two.

that's exactly what happens.
The guy I bought it from said it had a leak, but I thought he meant from a fitting. The big disappointment is the fact I don't have a UAT lying around, and I'm just down to strapping the batteries down and programming, and with all my equipment installed I didn't make room for a separate uat, so it's kinda like having to start over. Frustrating.
And the only air traps I care for are clear, canister types, like intairco. And of course the only place that hadthem in stock is the company itself, in Australia, so $50 in shipping to get it here in a week...
