Hey fellas,
I just picked one of these A-10’s up second hand. It’s missing the stock fiberglass fuel tanks so I was thinking of attempting to make my own. Just wondering if any of you A-10 owner/builders out there could measure your stock tanks and post the dimensions. Thanks Jon

My tanks have been installed for quite some time so these are approximate measurements from the top hatch being open: 11” long x 2.75” wide x 5” tall. I know for sure they are 61 oz tanks since I filled them before I installed them and measured what actually poured out. Hope that helps.

They'll fit, no problem, and tail heavy really depends on how much lead you're willing to put in the nose. When I was building mine I had 2 Rabbits sitting around and debated going with them or 120mm EDF, in the end I chose the EDFs for a more scale sound and appearance. If memory serves the Rabbits were not much heavier (within an ounce or two) than the Jetfan 120 EDF's weight. Now that mine is finished I have four 6S 6250 LiPo packs (7 lbs) under the cockpit, full cockpit w/pilot and with both A123 RX packs in the nose it still needed a pound of lead to balance. Now mine hasn't flown yet so I can't comment on whether the factory CG is conservative, right on the money or somewhere in between, so I might be able to remove the lead. My RTF weight is 39 lbs, which seems to be about normal, based on some of the other EDFs out there. The empty weight of a turbine version will be about 32-33 lbs, but to compare apples to apples you'd have to weigh the turbine version with fuel. As far as adding weight to balance, there's a guy somewhere in Europe flying an EDF version that weighs 44lbs so the plane can plane can handle the weight. I remember several years ago when the Rabbits first came out somebody had a pair in an early Mibo A-10 and it flew pretty good. I don't know your particular situation, but if budget and space permit I think you might be better off using the Rabbits in the larger Skymaster A-10 or maybe waiting on the 100" version that Aviation Jets will be releasing later this year that's being specifically designed for 85-100N engines.

Hi guys,
I forgot to post some news on my build, well I already maiden the A10, what a great plane, flyes and land really great, with the Jet Central Bee’s I fly it 5 minutes and left the stock tanks with a little less than half of fuel, flying at 50% of throttle with 1 or 2 full throttle passes, I use taxi tanks too, the more I fly it the more confident I feel, with and without the Cortex Gyro I feel the same, its so stable, just on the maiden flight I got a bouncing landing and the pin on the nose gear bend but nothing to worry but other than that its rock solid.
Here’s two vids, the maiden and one of the latest flights.

It took me a while to get used to it, the DC is wider and I had to switch to the shorter stick ends of the DS because with the original stick ends of the DC my fingers felt uncomfortable, but I really like this radio, now I feel it better than the “regular”, I still use my old “regular” Spektrum radio.

Would someone mind measuring for me, very roughly, doesn’t have to be exact....
a) from the bottom of the nose gear door to the ball link attachment on the door
b) the length of the pushrod from the door to the leg?
i tried to make a few “improvements” but am now having to go back to plan A
Many thanks

1.—Bottom of door to attachment point is 2 1/8 inches
2.—linkage from door to front strut is 2 1/2 inches.
I bought mine used and tore everything out to re-do it all. The pushrod linkage is still hanging from the front gear door and these are the measurements that I got. Hopefully someone else will chime in to confirm.

Hey guys,
For any of you fellas who have flown your A-10 could you please post the control throws and CG that you settled on. I am setting up my control surfaces now and want to make sure I will have enough throw especially on the elevator as I know from reading this forum that it takes nearly all your up elevator to get this plane to rotate. Thanks. Jon

I used the manual settings with high setting on elevator because of the rotation thing, but never had to pull all the elevator on take offs, CG as the manual says, nose heavy side.
1. Elevator 25-30mm
2. Rudder 15mm
3. Aileron 20-25mm
4. Flaps t-off 20 mm
5. Flaps landing 40mm
CG 105mm—110mm from leading edge at root.
