Sourcing a 36 in smoke tube???
Hey all. We’re can I source a smoke tube that is 36 in? I don’t want to run it at the cone of the turbine but to the end of the thrust tube. I read that Tam is not taking orders anymore so what options do I have. I don’t know we’re I can source the tubing that long that I could make myself. Need help please.

I used long copper tubes same we use on fuel tanks on my 1/6 F16 and run them through double side wall of thrust pipe, great smoke. Found them at DIY Leroy Merlin if you have one where you live.

Same as above.
Used a small Brass pipe in my Ultra flash. Ran it as pictured above.
Bent and crimped the end and it worked great!
I had it comming directly out the top of the tube and only had it sticking down about 1/2 to 3/4".

I ended up ordering a 6ft stick of 3/16 stainless tubing from a seller on EBAY ZORO tools, under 15$ shipped, and 6ft long, and cheaper than 1 tams stick. I cut the end of the tube to make my own splash plate, NO WELDING NEEDED. I ran it through my pipe to hold it tight, then bent it as needed slid it into a mount i made (hardwood block with a hole drilled in it) and once in position glued it in place and let it set up. This is the second jet I have done this on, works perfect, no issues.
Heres the link to the tubing I use

HERE ARE PICS of how to cut the end of your tubing to make your own splash plate on the end of your smoke tube, NO welding needed, and works great, I do bring my plate in a little closer to the outlet myself, but this just works period, only takes a couple minutes with a dremel and a cutoff wheel, or an angle grinder with a cutoff wheel. EASY

Well I got my SS pipe in and have it cut to the size I’m wanting. I took the little left over and bent to get the angles I wanted and the length to clear the bell mouth. So far it’s looking good. Just have to wait until I get the turbine so that I can install it all.

Invariably you will get leakage, even a drop or two, of smoke oil from your setup. So placing the smoke tube out the back completely eliminates the possibility of a fire in the pipe from the oil drip. There is also speculation that the smoke oil being introduced before the pipe could cause thermal shock to the pipe and possibly a collapse from the fatigue.
The full scales (T-Birds and Blue Angels) run it out the back as well.
