Father Son Turbinator build
#27
Both wings bagged and sanded out. Two tubes and two anti rotation pins keep the outboard and inboard panels from twisting.
Sorry guys I don't know why the pics upload upside down.

I got the trailing edge on and sanded, mounted the outer panels to the inner panels. One tip I found helpful when sanding out a trailing edge is to put tape on the end of your sanding bar. It will keep the end of your sanding bar from tearing up your sheeting or sanding a low spot. When I sanded out the dowels I put tape on both ends of my sanding bar. When I was as close, I took off the tape and just had to lightly finish it off.

Thank you for the compliments. Today the robart struts were delivered, look good! Few more pictures to share
with you. I built the stab off the plans, with no instructions and after the fact found out there was suppose to
be shear webs in the stab, They are not shown on the plans. We decided to glue on carbon fiber to the top of skins.and vacuum bagged them
Wing halves are joined together and looks good! He installed wing on fuse and everything lined up. Only small amount of sanding on one wing
saddle to get it lined up with vertical fin and wing incidence was perfect.. Horizontal stab was 1/16 low on one side, easy fix! We use laser
to align everything up..
I can finish up the fuse now the wings are mounted. For the turtle deck for canopy we plan on cutting a foam deck.
Plan is to have ready for primer by end of March.

Since Nick introduced the plane I have built two std size and two enlarged 125% ones. All but one were covered in monocote to save weight. You will like how the plane flies no matter what size one you build. Be aware though that all four of mine have taken condierable nose weight to balance them for flight.

Found some free time to get back in the shop. Installed the nose block and sanded out. Started carving the foam block for
plug for fiberglass canopy. Height wise Canopy is to tall. After layup the Canopy can be cut down to desired height.
Feels great to be back in shop!

Wheel wells were marked with a compass and cut out with a dremel tool working from the center out. I cut the outside circle perimeter with my exacto knife just enough to cut the balsa. It left a much nicer cut than what i could do with the roto zip bit. When i got close to the end I popped the balsa loose from the foam and used the Dremel to clean out the remaining foam. It worked out really well.
Wheels wells are cut out. Ill start lining them out. I think I'll glass the wheel wells so they can be painted. Otherwise these wings are almost ready for some Monokote, it wont be long. Call me wierd but I love the smell of a fresh roll of Monkote being opened up. 😁
