The engine (JetCentral Mammoth 250), would "pop" with most of the bubbles but also flammed out once or twice. After re-start and several minutes of running, the bubbles finally quit and the trap has worked fine since.

Just saying that with the old BVM style traps the advise was to "soak" new ones with fuel for a period of time to avoid bubbles. I didn't know you had to do that with these newer ones.

This sounds a little scary to me. I'd run the fuel pump on the ground at full throttle settings for a whole tank, to make sure I wasn't cavitating (word?) any bubbles downstream.

And man, that is a good looking set up!!

If there was the demand I could bring back the CAT V2, please note it would need to be in the same format however as I still have the cnc and tooling to do so?

Let me know who would want to buy them if they were back.......

Appreciate all the comments and great to know 8 years on from the first CAT they still have a great following

Marc,

YES PLEASE BRING THEM BACK. I love the fact that they are so light and always work 100%. I have them installed in helicopters, turbo-props and from 45 to 260 size turbines, plus I use the smoke versions too. The only issue I have had at times were the size of the nipples (I only use 4mm tubing), but I have always been able to work around that. I don't need the bling, telemetry or fancy mounting. Most of the time it is hidden away inside the model, so I don't need to see it ( and I don't have to because it always work). I don't like to empty it either and prefer to store my model with the CAT being full. Most of all, it weights very little.

Cheers,

JanR

Marc, which one is the V2 CAT?

The composite ones were great and I would buy one for my new jet if they were available.

The only issue I had with the composite ones was the retaining o-rings that didn’t last too long but it’s an easy fix to glue the CAT on the mount or modify it for cable ties.

I have just looked at new air trap options and the choices are either big metal ones or plastic bottles. The composite CAT fills a gap in the market.

the intairco is nice, but large and heavy.
I’ve had 5 cats. All have been flawless!

Yes the O-rings are not durable - I use some thin nylon string to tie the CAT onto it's mount and then drop some cynon on the small knot. When I need to remove the CAT from the mount, I simply cut the string and use a new piece to refix the CAT. But absolutely no reason not to use the CAT's and not get all the other benefits they have (best of all, they are basically install-and-forget).

Cheers,

JanR

Please provide info of how you made your air trap.

Guys if anyone want some 'parts' to make up some air traps then I have a few odds and sods parts left over from the CAT range, if you let me know what you might want then I can have a rummage.
I'll check tomorrow to see what I have and post on here.....
