Default aligning pipe

My builder was having trouble aligning the pipe with a bellmouth I got from Grumania. The pipe is cut at an angle. Since my mibo kit already comes with the angle build in the rails, the cut is no longer needed and its harder to align with it.
I did a jig via 3d printing. It seems to do the work, but will know in the next few days.
(Note: I use a carbon fiber tube to align the rod. The one I had was used for other stuff, so that is why there is a clothespin on it 8-)

another jig I did was a spacer between the bellmouth and the turbine to ensure its centered and at the right distance.

Actually, it's a laser targeting seeker head (called "Pave Penny"). It looks like this:

I found a small LED housing at an electrical supply store that looked similar.

I don't think the Pave Penny is actually emitting any lights ? It is more a passive optical device ?

Remember, Craig flew the real A-10!

I suppose if it is a Laser Targeting “Seeker” it is unlikely putting out light. It is “seeking” or detecting a targeting Laser.

I’m still going to put a light in it though!

I’ve been debating an Alaskan fantasy digital camo scheme. I want the tail to say “I Can See Russia From My House!”

Here are some of the practice pieces I’ve been trying.

I’m debating wether to do a single green ventral color ala SU-27 or a total digital camo like this f-18:

And shoot! I have been forgetting to post the throws and the CG that Bogo sent me! Thank you Bogo!

I’m glad I remembered! Better late than never.

I think it will be the coolest in that Scheme as long as it doesn't get too busy as it is a large model. I would love it.

I have probably spent about $1000 in paint so far practicing.

My last task is to find a matte clear that I like. But that is weeks to months away.

I did a rookie paint mistake.

As I was taking off masking tape, an occasional fingernail would scrape up against the paint I just laid down.

And as all my practice pieces showed me, this ppg paint is very hard and loves to stick. But... there were a few spots were paint just flaked off! Argh!!

Then, as I remembered reading LGMgraphix’s paint post, I didn’t wash the Mibo!! I used scotchbrite on the primer just before laying down paint! Jets have to be washed with soap BEFORE paint!

Oh well, I’m glad it happened now and the paint only flaked in a few spots. I tried every spot I painted to see if the paint would flake and I only found a few places.

I washed the jet and will sand and use my airbrush to paint over the flaking parts.

Be ready for the hard work the digital painting is very time consuming but very rewarding,I have painted my F-22 with the digital camo so I know how much work is this ,make sure that the paint is dry before applying one more paint and stencils

It's hard to beat a Blue Box pilot if you can find one. The scale is pretty close and the flight suits, helmets, etc., are very authentic (even if it's a female pilot like I have).
