Hi Jordan...beautiful plane... I’m half way through one myself and trying to decide what finish to apply. I have the material for an aluminum finish.. but I hesitate... what receivers are you running and what location are your Rx antennas in? I worry somewhat about the aluminum shielding the Rx reception... any light you can shed is appreciated!
thansk so much !

Out of curiosity how did you eliminate the orange peel in the flite metal that comes from the when the adhesive is sprayed on the back of the foil? I have a BVM 80" F-86 that's ready for its finish. I'd like to do FM, but the orange peel turns me off.

Hi Matt- I’m running a Futaba system through a Powerbox Royal, so there are two receivers. One is located towards the front of the plane forward of the cockpit but low, kind of by the nose gear door. The other is behind the cockpit and up high. Both receivers are mounted right on the side of the plane (not on internal structures or built up mounts). I have not had any problems with getting a signal. The Royal allows you to check missed frames, fades, and holds and I have not had any issues with them.

Some sanding and elbow grease will get the orange peel out! I usually start with 320 grit sandpaper and work up to a finer grit. It takes some patience but it’s worth it in the end!
