Thunderbirds is definitely a very nice place, and if you are flying a sport jet or 1/8 F16 it’s plenty.
I feel it’s a bit short for larger jets and heavy scale fighters though.
(I fly a considerable amount, usually going through at least 5 gallons a month) I certainly try and stay proficient. I wouldn’t take one of my scale jets there though. My personal opinion that’s all, their are certainly much better and more proficient pilots than me who may feel otherwise.

Carlos Dallas will have you covered on the brew side as well. there are a bunch with some very tasty options. Peticolas is my favorite, then four corners, lakewood,,, that list goes on. Waxahachie is a smaller town just south of dallas that has a good vibe to it, There are quite a few folks from the DFW metro area on here who can offer guidance.

I like rattlesnakes, Armadillos and Bobcats in my backyard....so I stay on the west side of DFW (actually west of Fort Worth). Life here is very laid back, VERY LAID BACK, but still close to everything DFW.
Real state is still somewhat reasonable, but the influx of Californian Refugees is quickly changing that picture (LOL).

Also keep in mind if you have kiddos who go to school, there's only a handful of places with good public schools......otherwise there are good private schools everywhere.

So when are you moving? ha!

I can imagine turning a flash light at night on your backyard and seen a bunch of small reflective eyes looking back at you, interesting

About a year, few trips in between.

the beauty of those lil eyes looking back at you is you know exactly where to aim YOUR GUNS!!!! as Ricky Bobby’s once said.....I chew big red gum if you don’t then F you!!! 😂

if you think about a move out to Fort Worth ( where all the cool kids hang out btw ) look up trinity valley school, Fort Worth country day, or google private schools in Fort Worth / Dallas. Some exceptional institutions all you need is $$$$$

but hey the public schools in the area are not terrible either some better than others, Allen, frisco, Plano, McKinney, love joy, Fairfield, south lake Carroll, highland park...etc etc all tremendous academic institutions. If you like HS football you will find some stadiums / athletic facilities that will marvel many colleges. Especially up the areas you will be looking. Google Allen TX HS football

Scott Marr will likely be at best in the West, he can provide insight into those areas better than us lowland gorillas out here in Fort Worth. ;-) sit on your veranda out here in the country and drive into the big city for supplies or move up north and with the exception of being in a FREE state you’ll feel just like you never left California. Bahhahahhahha

See, we Texans cut up with each other all the time, I have buddies all over the state, even the Yankees up in the DFW area,, BOOM,,,,,
We lived in North Richland Hills, Northeast of Fort Worth for about 8 years before moving down here to Waco, and there is alot of work all over the area as well as Grapevine, there are 3 Major airports within an hour of each other, Alliance, DFW, and Love field.
Theres a whole lot Less people per square mile down here in Waco, , but we have more than our share of WACKO!!!
Also,I don't always chew gum, but when I do I chew BIG RED, AND,,We MAKE BIG RED SODA, right here in WACO,,,,OH YEAH,,

I appreciate very mucho all the excellent info I've been given, it is what I needed to start my search, I took a quick look at the Thunderbird field and all I can say is, !WOW! It looks awesome, no way we can build a flying field like that here in Cali ( too many regulations and laws to prevent it )

Lots of home work to do for the up coming months.

I will keep you posted of my findings

Thank you to all for taking the time.

One of the things I did when I was in the SF bay area was to visit every flying field within 100 miles, that was fun, then we moved to the Sac area and did the same, also fun, every one was very nice and was invited to return to fly again.
When I got into jets I did the same thing, this time I expanded my trips to other states to attend some of the events we are familiar with and some that are no more like Superman Il, Florida Jets Fl, BITW CA, Desert Storm AZ, California Jets CA ( was at the first meet there, we BBQ oysters that time ) I was very close to make KJ this year to meet mr: Lewis himself.

I will definitely do the same in TX. if I get the opportunity.

LoL you ain’t gonna see too many of those up in Frisco Allen Plano McKinney area but you will out in cowtown where Falconwings and a few of us live. As long as they’re not in your attic mehhh they are pretty effective at keeping the pest level to a minimum.

I'm kind of leaning towards the West side of Fort Worth, less funny peoples to deal with and KDFW is about 45 min away with no traffic.

That guy has been feeding himself on cat food that the neighbors, including us leave outside for the two cats that come to visit all the time ( more like beg for food )
