Default Need some F-18 detailing help

I have a ton of decals from tailor made and a couple location diagrams for the major stuff but I have everything from landing, pylons, missiles and ejection seat markings and need some help with these.
Any F-18 drivers have some detailed pictures or diagrams for markings? THanks

They gave me those, there are a loooot more that are not covered in those diagrams. Pylons, landing gear, ejection seats, tanks, missiles.
I think I can find enough pictures of the missiles but the pylons/tanks and seat I could use some help. The gear is another area I might can figure out.

Well I don't know if it will help in any specific case, but this book is the most detailed photo book I have seen on the F-18.

https://publicintelligence.net/u-s-n...light-manuals/

On this site there are manuals for the F-18 that include the location of painting stencils. Takes a little digging but I have found them for the F-4, talk about a ton of stencils!!

I’ll jump on there and see if I can find it.

On the gear I have taken close up photos of the placards, I’ll dig them up too.

Im that guy at air shows crawling around the jets taking photos while the pilots and crew are staring at me or asking me leading questions...

Ok so the manuals don’t have the stencil diagrams, I checked each manual.
Chapter 11 flight characteristics is interesting to read tho.

I’ll check my photo archive for you tomorrow. I took a lot of pics of the stencils on pylons and the fuselage before.

I did find this decal set for 1/48 models but I suspect that it’s similar to what you have already. Looks pretty complete

https://www.cybermodeler.com/hobby/d..._st48028.shtml

Decal sets for 1/32 models are more complete

Thanks Chris, the one above is what I already have. Was hoping one of the former f-18 drivers would chime in.

Hey lil fella sorry been away for a bit entertaining my 2 visiting princesses. Maybe we can arrange a visit to the base and you can crawl around one. Get what ever pix you want / need but I will say if you have a stencil sheet from Taylor then that’s about as complete a document as you’ll find.

Thanks, figured you would chime in eventually all the decals on the fuselage are good with the diagrams I was given, but things like the gear, cockpit, and pylons are not part of the diagrams. Being able to see real gear would be huge since I could take pictures of all the data plates on and markings. I have ever little marking on the gear so it will look fantastic if I can get a location for everything.

Haven’t heard of that I will do a search, I also forgot to mention external fuel tank markings are needed.

Its interesting how difficult it was to get a good focus on a gray jet especially on the shady side of the plane.

Thanks Chris the pylon one helps, as well as the cockpit. I find this jet to be very hard to find detailed info on unlike some of the others. Still need a few more pylons views and tank markings but I am getting there with people helping out!

In some pics I see a red Danger or Warning sticker on the left hand side of the seat up near the top edge. I don't get to see F-18E's around here very often and looking through my pics I realized I didn't have as many as I thought. These pis are actually pretty old and when this jet was on the ramp it was cordoned off. I have more F-18C/D pics than E/F. I didn't post all of them but these are more relevant to your need.
I have a bunch of F-4, A-10 and F-16, some F-15 and a lot of warbird shots up close.

Hope it gets your there and look forward to your build being finished.

There are two dorsal antennas on this jet and they have Do Not Paint stenciled on them by the way.

Yelp I saw that, I really wish I had a 3D printer to make little things like these antennas. I have been brain storming on an easy method to make some.
