Im not sure if these guys have SBus stuff

so how does this turn a 12x or something into a 26ch radio?

ive been less involved the past 3 years and technology has blown past what i remember being 3 years ago.

Try one - i gurantee you will LOVE it!
when I say SBus I mean having one wire to the tail for the servos and one to the wings. Plugging each servo into the unit is what i got away from. This eliminates weight from less wires and it cleans up things.

welcome back Brother!

for instance on my F22. I was able to hook both flaps and both leading Edge flaps up and use only one channel instead of 4. You can 15 point servo match reverse and have different end points along with different center points.

Also for instance I have my dual rudders and nose steering all on one channel with gyro controlling all 3. Gyro on nose steering is huge for a scale takeoff.

Is this any different than say a Power Box or JR Xbus setup?

ahh ok. So its more like a programmable smartfly xpander?

so if im using a 12x, im still limited to the 12 channels the Tx can provide, but i can make use of all 26 slots on the box bc of the internal programming and matching features.

dang. Still stuck with changing radio brands. Lol

Does it have SBus output, with gyro corrections on said output?

no, the servos connect to the Smoothflite itself.

bob the the difference is you get the best gyro and the programming is easy to use and understand unlike the PB.

Never used xbus so cant comment on this.

Talk to your boys and see if they want an article. I'd be interested to test one out.

It sounds like they have taken a next step in power distribution. Good to know.

That F-22 was sure flying nice but Kris has a habit of that no matter what gyro he's used.

I downloaded a couple of files from the website and have been reading them while at work. The quick start and the ARXL smoothflite manual, I couldn’t find one for the orange receivers like the one in gunradd photo above

so help me out because, unless Im mistaken there isn’t a way to save your data once you type throws / values / gyro gain etc etc etc onto the touch screen......say onto a sd card like you can with most transmitters etc?

Since you you no longer need to use transmitter for this purpose, I’m curious do we have to transpose the saved data onto a word document or spread sheet for future reference, just in case changes need to be made or we want to transfer to a different model

Good questions!
Buck in PDF manual it has a sheet you can fill out during install to help with this if you need it. I started to use it then ended up not using it at all.

For instance I ended up changing some things around after I set it up. So for an example it I wanted to see what channel one of them controlled you have a servo monitor built into the receiver and you can enable and disable any channel in the servo menu. So on my F22 I have the flap channel controlling 4 servos. 2 for flaps and 2 for leading edge flaps. Lets say I need to change the throw on one of the servos. The easy way would be to reference the sheet that you can make during set up. I didn't do that so the way I do it is I go to the servo menu and disable one of the 4 servos (they will be the only ones lit up green) and move the flaps until I find the one I need to adjust.

You cannot save files. Its all stored in the receiver every time you change something. Not sure I would want to use the same program on another model. Allot of room for error if the second plane is not exactly the same. They are pretty easy to set up and the gyro pretty much just needs the initial set up done and you probably wont touch it again.

The receiver I have is a one off unit. This link should be the same one. https://pacificrcjets.com/collection...pektrum-dsms-1

Thanks for responding amigo. I appreciate the feedback and yes that’s the receiver I ordered. I will order another one for a future project I like the built in sequencer and the gyro capability seems impressive.

Buck, hope you have been well. The best thing about this system is that the Gyro self adjusts though-out your entire flight. No more guessing on gyro sensitivity in each flight mode. It sets its maximum sensitivity throughout your speed range, Love that feature!
I should have mine soon, putting it in my T-3 with Thrust Vectoring
Hope to see you in Mississippi...

Jeff

Gunradd,
Can you use both Jeti 2.4 and 900 MHz receivers together at the same time to have the 900mhz back up frequency available? Seems like if Jeti switches from 2.4 to 900 you would still have gyro on 900. Am I correct?
Thx, Gary

hey amigo, the gyros capability to self adjust intrigues me and I look forward to trying it. Will be unable to attend Mississippi due to family commitments so will catch up at another event. Have a great time!!
