Hi,
On this page below the T32MZ is shown and next to it is a stick. I suppose it show the stick that is used in T32MZ?
Is that stick shown there the old plastic stick or the newer metal stick? Anyone that can see that? It seems to be plastic spotless sticks on T32MZ as far as I can see.
???????RC TECH magazine: Futaba 32MZ??????????

This is a Futaba potless plastic stick as comparison:
Futaba T18MZ Stick ST-57 (TH) TF (Y-TFT1500195) - Ripmax Ltd

Futaba metal sticks, on 18SZ 70th Anniversary Edition:
https://www.flyinggiants.com/forums/showpost.php?p=2797777&postcount=46
And outside view of the metal stick, see image below.

A couple of things, the MPDX protocol does not open up for some of the features of "normal" channels, so if the MPDX is Futabas reason to call it 32MZ, then its a stretch (as the 18MZ already does this, I'm even using this MPDX feature in some of my own products).
I fear, but hope I'm totally wrong, that the 32MZ is just a "facelift" of the 18MZ, with a new name and an extra display. Also from the few pictures of the menu system and telemetry, it looks _very_ much the same as 18MZ.
At least it has a touch screen....
It will be very interesting to see what they come up with.....

I just saw the SBD-2 S,BUS2 decoder on eBay. To replace the MPDX-1 decoder?
I knew they(Futaba) wouldn't let me down... 😊

The SBD-2 is a “similar” item that only works from the S-Bus output.
it has not replaced the MPDX-1

The MPDX-1 is a channel multiplexer.
it takes a single channel and separates it into 8 individual outputs with adjustment of the channels being set in the MPDX software in the transmitter.

The SBD-2 is an 8 channel S-Bus output decoder.

I think I first used an mpdx-1 maybe 10-12 years ago, on a 12z.

It helps, you could get 28 "channels" out of the 12z, but there were limitations for sure. No trims, and not only no mixing but no ganging of servos... Like have all of the flaps and LE devices on one transmitter control, hooked to 4 servos. There was no way to do this on the 12z.

If the 32mz software managed this mpdx-1 a little better it would be nice, but i don't think futaba is selling the mpdx-1 now, at least in the US

I have yet to see a Futaba radio for which the ammount of channels do not match the model number, som and this is only my opinion, I think the link with dual receivers each with FAASTest 18ch will sum up to 32, even though thos are 36, but maybe it will let you adjust what is needed ATV,SubTrim, Speed, etc. And the same thing I said in another place, Futaba changes things before it is finally out sometimes, so I am waiting for Futaba to tell the specs, not the dealers, it has always been like that I think.

On other brands there is no Histeresis adjustment, so they can have 100Ch, but for what I like to set up, Futaba is still the only SW that let me do certain things.

One thing is for sure, they sell a product which will not be replaced by another system in their line up for years.

Agree, let's wait and see what the 32MZ offers, before we start to speculate or even compare it.

Seems that our fears have been validated. Only 18 channels, expandable to 32 with two MPDX encoders.

I was trying to see if the telemetry has been upgraded to user defined units - but it does not seem to be the case. In fact the manual does not even show anything about the top screen either.

Here's to hoping the product finally put in front of us will prove our early observations wrong. I realy don't want to go to another brand of radio and then having to buy a bunch of new receivers.........

It is a shame. I think Futaba just doesn't want to put the resources into one upping or even matching the competition. I'll keep flying my 18 until it gives me problems or I really need something else.

if it was my money I would give it to homeless people rather than ZB.

I bought a second hand DS16 from a fellow flyer at an exceptional price...so I already own the transmitter....just have not played with it much. I have looked at powerbox and I would rather give it a coupe of years of being out an in ALOT of hands.

Frankly, I am with you. For me to change brands, I will need to replace around 40 receivers in addition to the transmitter. I don't have a single model that I cannot fly with my 18MZ and I am quite use to the telemetry limitations. However, my 18 is now 10 years old and I will probably just get a new one as I find the RST control is no longer operating properly.

.......I cannot stand the feel of Jeti in my hands and the attitude of some Jeti distributors are appalling. If I am forced to change brands, I will go with PowerBox Core for sure.

Thanks for participating in this thread, but it has run it's course I guess and I will now sign out.

Er, really ? have you seen any heli software on the CORE - it docent exist as yet and they are in no hurry to produce it either.

From what I have been told about the 32MZ - yes it is basically a "minor" update of the 18MZ, but the internals have been designed to allow for ongoing future developments that the original layout would not allow for.

Just the info that I have at the moment.

In case you want too move to Jeti, Jeti is releasing SBUS protocol compatibility which means the programming becomes more easy in case you're already using SBUS in your current models. Also the Jeti receivers are very price competitive (maybe 1/2 of the price) of the equivalent Futaba Rx. I changed from Futaba to Jeti last year without regret although I agree with you, the Futaba feel in my hands was the best.

I understand US Jeti distributors are not up to expectations though.... it's not the same in the rest of the world, Jeti's really good....

You can still buy the 18MZ WC at a promo price, brand new for about 1,400USD.....https://www.rcjapan.net/index.php?ma...lst3l119o0jku5

Good luck

Default I don't fly Jeti now...

But if I did I would call Danny at Aeropanda. That is where I got my Jet Central and he is awesome. You don't have to go to ZB.
