Some people don’t understand how critical I the problem with the receivers problem #1 I just got the radio and only two of the 20rx and they going to my freshly build models and they actually there and I used them with my dx18 so this is going to be easy with the model transfer to new radio but the biggest problem is that I sold 4 of the 12ch regular power safe ones and my models are empty no rx’s I was hoping that when buying the new radio I could order some more Spektrum new style rx and expend to the new rx with the new Spektrum gyro !!?!?! And nothing I ordered 4 new ones like 2 months ago and paid for it and makes me so frustrated when I’m looking at the horizonhobby and see that the 20ch ones from November ,, this was the prediction back order,, was expected to next year January this technically is 4 months from my order what a f&$@ I’m just hoping that they not going to extend the back order from January to late March because I will drive to horizon and take them from they model ,that’s it with,I’m 100% with Spektrum products and never expired problems with but this is like a big problem at least for now I hope?

Just was catching up reading your thoughts on the iX-20. I succumbed to the temptation of the iX-20 tonight and placed an order for one. I have been using the iX-12 since last January and have really enjoyed it. A corner of its screen darkened on me in July and I sent it back to HH which they replaced and had it right back to me in no time. Prior to the iX-12, I had been a JR user since 1993. I do like the "heavier" feel of the JR radios and I understand what some of you say about the toy-like feel of the Spektrum radios, but I have found the iX-12 to be very reliable and I'm one of the ones that do enjoy the bells and whistles so have enabled voice alerts and such. Of the 6 transmitters that I have used through the years, it's my favorite. I just purchased my first turbine (Kingtech K210G2) for the Sunshine 1/3-scale Me163 model so just thought why not get the new iX-20 and start fresh in this new turbine endeavor. Bottom line guys, I am continuing to have lots of fun in this hobby...one that I have enjoyed for 41 years now. Hope you guys are too! Thanks for the posts...I am enjoying reading them.

Wow. Let me know when you get ready to fly that thing, I'll be there with my camera.

And if you need any jet assistance I'm a turbine/CD and we have lots of jet folks in Jax to get you signed off.

BarracudaHockey,

Hey, thanks for the support! Yeah, turbines are a new thing for me so I might need some help. I am a member of the Ancient City R/C Flyers down south of Jacksonville and also hoping to get into the Sanford Aeromodellers club down south. My employment is as an engineer at KSC so am down in Titusville most of the time and the Sanford club (IMO) has the nicest field that is still somewhat near me (20 miles). I am looking forward to this turbine "adventure" as I have been primarily flying EDF's. Could you recommend a good internet website for somebody just getting into turbines?

Thanks again!

We have a great jet section here and there's lot of groups on Facebook

I'm friends with a couple of guys at Ancient City and flown some glider towing down there before. I've never been to the Sanford club but their facilities look nice.

We are actually doing a jet day today at Gateway RC on Lannie Rd at 10am and I'll have a couple turbines out there, bit of a hike but might be worth it for information gathering.

Hey...that's timely! I was just reading up a bit more on the turbine waiver requirements and it looks like I have some work to do. I expect the build is going to take me a while so I think that I will have time to get as many boxes checked off up to the turbine operation and flights. That is when I will be needing help from folks like yourself. It's my wife and my 10th anniversary today...what better anniversary gift than her coming out to a turbine meet with me today. I may show up there. I'll ask for Andy (aka BarracudaHockey).

btw, I'm Rob Williams.

Thanks Andy

My 12X is second hand. Ain’t no need to go to a fancy radio. Mine is fine and when it breaks I will get it fixed. Ain’t spending a dime in anything that comes from China.

You’d better crack open the device your using to post and rip out most of its innards then.

How can you be in this hobby without buying anything from China? Not sure it’s possible..

Hey Andy,

Yeah, real glad I came out to your jet meet today. In addition to being a gorgeous day, there are (4) things that were profitable to me:
1) After seeing the struggles of the guys getting an earlier Kingston model started, I'm glad I decided to buy a new Kingston G2
2) Meeting you and putting a face on "BarracudaHockey"!
3) Learning that I am going to need a trainer aircraft instead of just the Me-163. I've been looking at the Boomerang site...I kind of like the Elon (w/ the T-Birds paint scheme)
4) Meeting Adam from PowerBox and discussing the Powerbox system as well as his Turbinator aircraft

So I'm thinking that I may get the Elon aircraft as a trainer and pick up a smaller turbine for It as well.

Thanks again for the invite!

JR Japan Radio, negative ghostrider none in mine! Negative again, Samsung made in SK. Wrong again. Nothing will be purchased or eaten from the Socialist country!

I opened it and yes I am correct nothing inside says ROC. All made in Japan! Keeping my trusty 12X to the end of the abolishment of the 2.4ghz band. Got my trusty Futaba 8 PCM FM as a back up.

Boomerangs are awesome trainers. Don't be afraid to look into the Composite ARF Rebel as well if you want a more jet looking plane.

Man, I love the concept of the operating system on my ix12, and I love how it feels in my hands, but it's slow sometimes and can have bugs at times. Ix20 fixed a lot of bugs but I'm really not a fan of how it feels/balances. I'm a thumb flyer and don't use a strap. If only the ix20 came in a dx20 body.
I have been looking for dx20's but they sell as soon as they pop up and are selling for new price or better, for something that is discontinued and will surely soon not be supported. I just can't justify that, so ix20 might have to be my next radio unless spektrum comes out with something better, soon.

I would say if you can live with the Ix12 stick with, the only real benefit your getting with the IX20 is (yes more channels) but its difference of day and night in terms of response time switching it on and flicking through the menu's. It should of been what the IX12 is not.

The sliders on the sides are difficult to use if they are assigned for braking or any important function, since its wider and if you have normal sized hands its tricky, more than I would like. Like yourself I do not use a neck strap but it does feel good in the hands, no issues there.

Question I get asked a bit, is it worth the money. Honest answer is no, but if your a Spektrum user and your pissed off with the slow response time of the Ix12 and how IMO HH and Spekturm did nothing for iX12 users, except tell them to spend another $1400 lol .. take that into consideration. I bought one because I needed more channels for the BVM Rafale but if you don't need more channels I would say just wait.

I recently switched from my DX18 to an IX20. I was hesitant because of how the IX12 behaved, but the IX20 is pretty responsive. Load times are fast and its not an issue to me at all. IMO I love the programming, and the feel took a little to get use to, but that went away real quick. I couldn't be happier with it. So easy to program a plane now. I also added these stick ends to it. Made a world of difference for me..

They fit with any issue to the iX20?

Just got an iX20

When using On The Fly tuning it limits you severely, i was told by horizon hobby that its a safety feature.

Set a plane up with a flaperon wing
in Flap setting set Top Right Digital switch to Elevator in OTF area of screen at bottom i think.

Now notice the behavior of the switch, starts at 0 unless youve manually changed it, you can go up or down but once up go up or down your restricted to + OR - numbers .....you cant get back to 0 and go the other direction.

If you go the wrong direction the first click you have to use the Screen to get back to 0, This to me makes OTF useless.

I personally want this "Safety feature gone"!
