Default RE: A-10X Almost Here

Calculations show minimal torque needs on the A-10X... I am bumping torque value requirements up by roughly 20% here...

Aileron - 60oz/in
Elevator - 55 oz/in
Flaps - 70oz/in
Rudder - 60 oz/in

Now...everyone has their own servo preference, personally...I like the digitals on flight control. Here is what I used...

Aileron - JR3421
Flaps - Futaba S9202
Elevator - JR-9411
Rudders - JR DS168

Just keep your servo selection in this torque range or higher and your good. Rudders require "Wing" servos and elevator / ailerons need something in the "Mid" size. I will have a chart for servo choices available soon.

Can't wait till mine arrives!!! Glad you posted about the servo's I didn't know that the rudder needed the thin ones. The retracts look great.

Todd, I have a spare set of robart retracts.
530 mains and a 563 nose. Will these fit?
Will your struts work on these?

Got the A10x today!!! Man she is SWEET, arrived all in one piece no problems at all with packing/shipping damage. The quality looks fantastic. This thing should go together really quickly, seeing how there are so many cool features like the pre "latched" hatches, and the blind nuts already installed to mount the wings. BTW those gear seem STOUT!!!! bet they can take a licken and keep on ticken. The only suggestion I had was that a template for the radio tray be included, and Todd said he is getting one put together. So far I am really happy with the quality and completeness of this kit.

Ronnie,
That gear will work, I believe they are wire strut on the 530?. I installed Robart 550's in mine which use oleo legs but wire strut should work fine for this airframe.

Keep us updated on your build progress Michael ...
I will have the radio tray layout template completed this weekend. The supplied tank alters my original design a bit.

Kits have arrived and I should begin shipping by tomorrow. Combo packages will not be here until tuesday/wednesday so all combo orders will begin shipping next week.

Just bought the servo's for the a-10x from servo city...good deal on them right now by the way. This is what I got::

4 x HS-5475 Digitals (AILERON/ELEVATOR)
2 x HS-635HB (FLAPS)
2 x HS-125MG slim-wing (RUDDER)

All either are within Todds reccomendations.

Todd, how do I get on that waiting list for a combo kit?

Todd, can you use low profiles in the rudder or do they have to be slim wings?

Ronnie.... I got your mail, I need to measure the pockets. I let you know this evening. I believe they need to be slim wing but 3301 size may fit...
Be in touch shortly.

Ronnie,
Pocket depth is 3/4" in the fins, looks like slim wing is the best choice.

Shok, looks like we're flying the same colors maybe I can make a jet rally next year in Tx with it. What engine are you using. I'm going with the FTE-500 that I have. I been busy since I got it, but finally got some servos installed today I think this thing will go together pretty quick. Any estimates on how long these things take to get together Todd? Have you started on yours yet Shok?

Looks like on the 12lb class turbines that are bigger than the Artes Bee you will need to do some triming on the rear fiberglass right above where the turbine is mounted. See pic, I do not believe that it will weaken the structural integrity, but I thought that this informaton may help someone who is trying to make a decision on which turbine to use/purchase.

Does anyone make the "warthog" mouth and eye decals that will fit this plane. I think it would really set them off.. What do you think Todd???
