What size F84F ?

What size F84F ?
I have done some preliminary CAD design on an F84F Thunderstreak (swept wing version) for turbine power. I'm planning a Glass fuse/foam wing full kit. (possibly all composite)
From a comercial standpoint, having seen the market shift to more airframes for smaller turbines of the generic 12# class but yet having knowledge of significant numbers of jet modelers with 17-25#+ engines,I'm having 2nd thoughts about sizing this design in 1/6th scale as originaly planned in favor of going to 1/7th scale for 12# class engines.
I know that many want to see a full kit of this design and I would like your feedback before commiting to a final scaling.
All comments welcome.
TIA

As large as you can make it. I always loved the sexy looks of the 84! I'd like an ARF of course. If you can make a composit ARC in the $2500 range, I think it will be a success( mold it then go to China to achieve a good price).

RE: What size F84F ?
F-84G straight wing length is 51 inches
I started one a while back for 90mm EDF, but I think it might be able to fit the wren 44 turbine, I won't be able to try the turbine as i don't have the cash for one, but I'm hoping it will fly good with electric power. Maybe after all the tests I will sell one cheap to somebody who wants to give the trubine a try, it will be a fiberglass fuse, this pic is a little older, it's much smoother now, due to all the sanding and filling I've been doing, I'm almost ready to start the panel lines, then the mould.
just though i would show it to you guys.

Kerry,
I know that the smaller turbines seem to be selling well but I honestly think this is only a temporary thing. At the jet meets I still see an overwhelming majority of the engines being P-80 size in thrust and larger. I think that the larger version would be sweeeeeeet!!! Can you offer a glass fuse with foam cores for those of us that can still build.....Uh....Er...., I mean that want to build one with their own supplies??? Heck, I can even cut my own cores if necessary.....

Hi Ron, have not heard from you in quite a while. Hope all is ok.
Kevin, Foam core wings are always my first option and past practice as it keeps the costs very reasonable.
dcronkhite, I am in total agreement as the F84F has some of the nicest lines of any of the early jet fighters and I'm very partial to this Jet era.
.
I spent 3-1/2 hours last year with a tape measure and camera aquiring Nose gear and other details of the F84F at Dayton.
I'll let the poll run out to the end of the week and see what happens. Thanks to all.

I'm anxiously waiting for my Facet 2300 kit to arrive. As far as the F-84 goes, I agree with "the bigger the better" group. The F-84 that Mike Kulsyk (sorry if mispelled) built looks to be a perfect size (straight wing). If I had an F-84F, I think I would paint it to look like the Casey Jones "Mig" from the movie, The Hunters. One of my favorite movies.

The Knol brothers in the Netherlands make and fly a very large F84F in the Netherlands. It flew very well at the world jet masters in Thailand. Check the AMT Netherlands photo gallery www.amtjets.com.
If anyone is very seriously interested I will ask Richard Knol about the availability of mouldings

RE: What size F84F ?
Hey Kerry,
Yes all is well with us. I am covering my Facet in Hotel rooms at night while away this fall for work. Mark is painting his and is getting a 1200 for Xmas from his wife. Hope all is well with you. The F-84 is on my list to build with either wing; as matter of fact I have a Tamiya kit in my travel box to take with me on the road to do measurements from. See you soon I will send you some pics of our planes when I get back home.

Well, the polling outcome did not provide the decisive result I was hoping for as there is only a 2 vote delta but does serve to confirm my suspicions
I will evaluate and advise on my final choice of scale soon.
Thanks to all.

Kerry,
Even though I voted for the smaller size, the larger will make things easier to gear up. One thing I'm finding with the building of my small BVM F-86 is there isn't much room to do things non-standard from the kit. The larger size gives more flexibility.
