Default Electronic Retract Valve by Mini Hobby

Has anyone used one of these instead of a Server and Valve?

I have not used the MiniHobby valve, but I did check it out at last year's Superman.

I've only used the valves from Bob Wilcox at JetCat...
http://www.jetcatusa.com/acces.htm - you need to scroll down a little

FYI, the JetCat valve is a lot lighter than the MiniHobby one.

In my roo, I have one for my spring air retracts & another in proportional mode for my BVM brakes - both systems work as advertised.

I have the graupner one, used it for the first time the other day. What a GREAT idea, what a GREAT item. Saves so much hassle. The only down side is it was $80, and you need two of them if you are using air-up air-down retracts...

DIsaacks and Easytiger,
If you go to the goldenwest site you can buy a single valve which is used for either brakes or a spring air type of gear which is 65.00 or you can buy the double valve which looks likes two singles crammed together and this is used for air up/air down gear. I have both types in my bobcat and they work flawlessly and are a joy to set up. The big plus is that they don't leak and you don't have to change out O-Rings. I think the solenoid in them are rated at over 15,000 hours of constant operation so for our purposes they will last for years. Also, they can withstand up to 200lbs of pressure so they can be used for larger jets as well. I have attached a pictures of the ones I have in my bobcat the one on the left is my dual valve used for retracts and the the one on the right is a single and is used for brakes.

I used the Minihobby in a Topcat very easy to install and work with. Very nice not having to deal with a servo. Rick

Hey Dude: How did you keep the air usage down? I just tried running in Pro. mode and it did burn up a bunch of air.

Hi,
I used the Minihobbies Retract and Brake valves in my Roo.
Read the instructions on both units, they need to be initialized !
They work very nicely. I wire tied them to the header tank tray.

The JetCat/Jet-Tronics instructions clearly state "Drain in PWM Mode - Restrictor Required"
You'll dump too much air without a restrictor(s) in the drain line.

I use Robart #189 restrictors - they're made for 1/16 ID lines & come 4 in a pkg.

In my Roo with BVM brakes, 1 restrictor in the drain line was not enough. I changed to 3 in series & it works perfect.

I use a Robart #191 (30c.i.) tank that supplies BOTH my retracts & brakes & I have absolutely no problems.

Thank you sir! Just what I was looking for. Guess ill just switch the plumbing around (only two lines) and use the UP-5 valve to run the retracts and the Jetcat valve to run the brakes. I got an adjustable restrictor left over from SA that I can use. Saves me $50

You should check out following web page.
He got all the electronic valves and components around
turbines and gears. Specially comparing the dollar to euro.
i thing its close to one by one.
Using the projet ecu once, i guess you will never switch back.
Also with his door sequencer or brake valves. If you got valves you can just purchase the electronic to operate the valves. http://www.projet-ecu.de/

No way! The valves are only 17 euros? That's about seventeen bucks. That can't be right, can it?

Sure it can. The valves people are getting here are made by Festo-USA. 17000 something series. Just have put an RC switch on it. Those festo fittings you get that cost $10 each can be got from festo for 80% less. Ya just need to set up an account with them.

17,50 euro i think is just for the electronic to operate the valve
complete with the valve is about 38 euro.
but you can get the valve also direct from festo and just use the electronic from projet

There is no way to order from that web site, is there? And I could find no English description so we don't really know what we will get.

Are the JetCat valves truly proportional or do they do the "pulse"
thing like the mini-hobby valve?
