Steve,
Sounds great! I've got 2 children, 18 and 16 and UNFORTUNATELY they quit flying kites a few years ago.
Hey, I saw your tag line "that you can't fix dumb" well my wife has been trying now for the last 25 years! It would be great if she would just give up!

RE: Help! Support your Ducted Fan here!
I too was a small business owner for 21 years so I know what you mean. I liked the story about the guy who was asked "How many people work for you" and he answered "Oh, on a good day about 1/2 of them"; I unfortunately found that story way too true.
I had a stroke in 2004 and lost the use of my right hand so I don't fly but I still build, S..L..O..W..L..Y.. I'm re-doing my F-15, putting in new Robart gear and a new paint job for my son. I'm also building a F-14 Tomcat ([link=http://www.df-jets.com]www.df-jets.com[/link]) and have started a website for it too. Since I can't fly I chose DF since AMA now requires a turbine waiver and most of the accomplished pilots at my field don't have the waiver. I originally bough two Dynamax fans, two JMP pipes and two OS91's to power it with but I recently decided to make it an EDF (my first) so I just ordered an E-Turbax unit t power it with. That will be my first EDF but I think I can work with them a whole lot easier.
I hope your F-16 goes well and I can't wait until you get it back and take some pictures of it!

I'm painting it myself, that's why it's taking so long to get done. I just bought a Byron Mig-15 kit. So I'm trying to get this one off of my bench to get startyed on the new one.

Hi,
Name: Jason
Passion: FAST AND PAINFULLY LOUAD PLANES!
Flew my first DF plane this past Sunday. Its a Midwest JESTER it may not be pretty or sleek but the K&B 45 RIRE and Turbax gets it past 120mph. It was all used gear that just works perfectly. Very short take off roll. I couldn't slow it down at idel to land. So I go in dead stick It floats like a sailplane, loops, rolls, AND CLIMBS like a jet should. IT's LOUAD AND I LOVE IT

It's not really a kit, some 20 years ago I got a fuselage from a friend in Bavaria, the rest is more or less homebuilt. After some experiments with a Gleichauf-DF I now use the standard RAMTEC, OS91DF combination.

RE: Help! Support your Ducted Fan here!
Hi fellas,
I recently got my hands on a Yellow Aircraft F-14 Tomcat for ducted fan. I think it's around 1/9 scale and runs two .91 ducted fan units. I am looking for any information regarding the build and set ups etc as it's an un-touched kit. I was thinking of going electric ducted fan power? I also need a couple of items for the swing wings etc.........any help would be greatly appreciated.
All the best,
Nigel

Nigel,
If it's a fairly new YA kit then it's a 1/9th scale. They used to make a 1/10th scale but discontinued that about 5 years ago. I'm building an Avonds 1/10th scale right now; which started out to be a DF Glow plane but I sold the fans (still have the engines) and changed mine to an EDF with Schuebeler DS-94 fans that I got from Tamjets. What parts do you need maybe I can help you or at least tell you where you might look. If you need any pictures or reference material I have a LOT of that too. I switched to electric because of a lack of space for enough fuel which should not be a problem with your 1/9th.

RE: Help! Support your Ducted Fan here!
Hi David,
Thanks for your reply, sounds like you too are a fellow Tomcat lover. I also have the Avonds laser cut kit (un-touched so far) courtesy of Jesse at Lazer Lizard (USA). I must say that the kit is fantastic and I am looking forward to getting that project started soon. The Yellow F-14 kit that I have is a fair bit bigger than the Avonds one so I am pretty sure it is around the 1/9 scale mark but I am no expert. With regards to reference material, the more the merrier and if you could send me some that would be fantastic!
I need the following parts for both projects -
Scale retracts - both Avonds and Yellow
Swing wing mechanics and wing mounting hardware - both projects
I am still deciding which type of power set up and was looking at turbines for the Yellow F14 and EDF for the Avonds kit.
Be great to hear back from you and any pics or info you have would be warmly welcomed.
Brgds,
Nigel

RE: Help! Support your Ducted Fan here!
Does anyone have any info on the Starmax F-5E from Hobby-Lobby? Have you had any problems? I got mine, and right out of the box I had aileron servos not working and when I ran the fan unit up, "IT EXPLODED" send fan parts out the rear of the plane! I sent it back to HL and they are sending me a new plane. Hope this is not going to be one of those planes!?

OK, Once I get it Fixed again...
The old K&B flamed out on me again, dead stick short of runway that's on a hill, you get the picture.
TopGun F-15 with New OS 91VRDF and Byron fan.
Anyone got a Hurricane Fan they will part with???
Matter of Fact, anyone got a Top Gun F-15 they will part with???
This one is gettin pretty worn, I'm at least the third owner.

Heres my 2 cents like both of these planes but the Rafale is still to be upgraded some more not enough power.
Hobby Lobby Rafale. And Exceed Rc F35 Lightning 2 which Flys like a Rocket

Hey jet jocks,
Today I've successfully maidened my AMD Hawk (Chinese knock off in T-45 scheme) with OS 91/Dynamax setup.
She flew awesome, very very fast (around 140mph)!!!
It's my first ducted fan model, I'm very happy after almost three month rebuilding so many parts due to the poor quality of the kit.
The landing was fine, very docile.
I'll try to record the next flight on video.

Wow, i just saw this thread for the first time, i was in impression that only one DF thread is currently going on where i have posts on my 1:8 CF-105 Avro Arrow restoration posted. Now i can do it here too. Thanks Acarlos for finding it....hehe
