Finaly I did it ! I build my wren !!
finaly I decided to enter the turbine world by the small door.
I am building my wren MW54 and have a question for you turbine gurus
I know this may look dumb, but it's the first tim I work with "festo type conection"
on my diffuser there are 4 conectors
1) kero for CC
2) kero for bearing lubrification
3) propane
4) pressure pickup.
pressure pickip is a optional conection that you can use on the test bench to monitor the prssure in the engine with a comon manometer
. this signal is not necessary to operate the engine as it is not handled by the fadec
wren says to "blank off" the festo conection if not needed.
my question is "how to blank it off?"
I browsed the festo site to try to find a kind of plug without result.
before email wren with a so dumb question I prefer to ask you
thanks to help me

RE: Finaly I did it ! I build my wren !!
her I have a other question for wren builder
mine is the latest version of the mw54 mk2 kit
the shaft tunel assembly came with spring and tube instaled
during the front bearing instalation, the preload tube and the spring falled out of the tunel.
the spring look symetrical, so I guess I may reinsert it any direction, but the tube has a thin line on one side.
can you tell may the way it should be reinserted ?
thanks

ORIGINAL: GSR
You can blank off the pressure port by useing a spare 2mm bolt and nut. That leaves you a spare festo for future use. I used mine to make an onboard propane tank from a CO2 container. Scott

I think I will go with a small piece of festo tubing melted one side !
my kit came with a propane tank because I ordered it with full autostart option

Festo makes solid plastic plugs for such use. Also you can install a one way ball valve festo fitting - if there is no tube plugged in the front end, it shuts off...

didn't found those plugs on the festo site.
I guess I didn't browse correctly, there are thousands of items. I will check again.
replacing the actual festo by a one way one will then be performed at the first serious maintenance, because it means that I have to remove the CC I instaled yesterday
thanks a lot

You are getting very complicated over a very easy problem, do as Wren and the rest of us do.....
small piece of festo tube into festo fitting with a machine bolt screwed into the end of the pipe!!!
With the Fadec it will be a rare occasion you ever need to monitor the case pressure.

the tubing works fine, however Festo does have a wide selection of connectors and plugs> I like the plugs for fueling connections .... call Bill at Uflyhobbies ( www.uflyhobbies.com ) he carries every festo fitting and plug that is useable for RC ... , soon he will have all the festo stuff online also ....

You can get Festo parts at most industrial supply stores... well basically at most stores that carry stuff for compressed air tools and so on...
There are also some great alternatives on the market (some of them cheaper than Festo)...
At my former job I worked a lot with Legris parts... nice stuff.

Today I go for a walk in the old "SABENA TECHNICS WORKSHOP". I worke for that airline for 10 years before it went to banqueroute. Workshop are still actives and I have plenty of friends there. I need hig temperature sealing compound to seal the case. I will also make my contacts to get kerosene and turbine oil
I will also start to think about a test bench for thrust measurement based on a skate board
yes the first vehicle my turbine will power will be a skate board [:-]

Remember when you are Finnish building your engine and before you start it remove every thing from in front the engine even your fingers. I read too many post of engine sucking in screws screw driver or fingers.[]

I'll be sure everithing will be clean flawlessly. In my career I experimented bird ingestion several time with the big ones and I am particulary aware of the kind of damage the ingestion of a single little screw (or a single finger) could make
In the post above I posted a picture of the airframe I will build to make my first turbine flights (the future BTE reaction 54 designed around a 12lbs thrust engine). because of the instalation on the bottom of the aft fuse, I plan also to order when the tima will come a "gravel protection"

SALMONBUG Looking good
Check for leaks between the fuel line inside the engine. Check if fuel going to the bearing by pumping fuel into the engine.
Good luck.

I still have one concern
how to lock the shaft to tighten the compressor nut?
on the pick above the compressor nut isn't tightened yet and the inlet cone isn't tightened
I guess it must be tighten very well, but how to hold the shaft without damaging anything to screw the nut?

Use a vice grip plier to hold the center of the main shaft to tightened the turbine wheel nut. When you are finnish installing the wheel with the bearing then install in housing. Tightened the compressor nut by holding the turbine nut.
