RE: Balsa Sheeting
Just getting ready to sheet my DV8R wings and was thinking of using urethane too. With it's foaming action you should get good bonding with less weight. Anyone else using this stuff? I remember a few years ago it was the big thing lol. Still true?

You can get the glue at Home Depot or Lowe's. It's Elmer Probond poly glue. It works very well. It has a lot more working time than epoxy so you can get the sheeting positioned perfectly. One word of warning. It foams a lot. Put the sheeted core back in the shucks on a flat concrete floor, put a sheet of MDF on top of the whole assembly then put every paint can in the shop on top of that. It the morning you'll have a strong, beautifully sheeted wing. The foaming action also eliminates the need to glue up the balsa. Just use tape to hold the edge-trued basla together and the poly glue will join them.

I find you make a better job if you true and join the sheet with Elmers wood glue(yellow) first. True the edges, tape the pieces together and then fold and put glue in the joint. Moisten a rag and wipe the excess. sandwich between wax paper and I like to use 2 large sheets of 1/4: glass. You end up with a nice flat sheet of sheeting that you can sand easily before putting on the cores. I think the Elmers Polyurethane is now called Ultimate glue.
